The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Fabrication/Welder Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Performpredictive/preventativeroutes, establish and maintain equipment & documentation, spare parts, and perform root cause failure analysis.
  • Shop fabrication, working daily with drawings and print packages.
  • Make modifications to facility and production equipment, welding, rigging, site maintenance, millwright work and moving plant equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and solvingmechanical/electricalequipment problems.
  • Partner with engineering on equipment upgrades
  • Partner with other PE groups to maintain the reliability of the plant and production equipment.
  • Use of PC Maintenance Management system tools for analysis, planning & scheduling.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Possess a one-year welding diploma or higher (completed and verified prior to start).

OR

  • High Diploma/GED (completed prior to start) AND 540 hours of military welding and fabrication training.

AND

  • Interested and available to work a flexible schedule which can include after-hours on-call, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and symbols
  • Knowledge of welding types and procedures.
  • Knowledge & demonstrate proficiency with Welding Mild Steel, MIG, Welding Stainless Steel and Aluminum (TIG / Plasma).
  • Knowledge of fabrication equipment such as: metal brake / shear, drill press, band saws, hyd press, hammer drilling, grinding and finishing work, etc.
