Our global Finance mission is to provide complete, accurate, consistent, timely and insightful financial and operational information/advice that helps build a better working world and achieve our strategic ambitions.

The successful candidate will work directly with the regional financial controller and director of finance to drive financial strategy and lead all aspects of financial control and support for the Bermuda practice - this includes financial, management and regulatory reporting, financial planning and budgetary control, internal controls, and staff supervision. The successful candidate will also be responsible for confirming the organization’s compliance with financial, accounting, and other related regulatory requirements in Bermuda.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Bermuda finance team (financial and management reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll taxes) while driving operational efficiencies and improvements
  • Manage the process of preparing annual budgets, forecasts and ad hoc financial and management reporting and analysis in Bermuda
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Communicate and manage relationships with both internal and external clients and vendors
  • Act as the primary contact for client service personnel in resolving problems or issues for the Bermuda practice
  • Mentor and develop other members of the finance team in Bermuda and across the region

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
  • An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification, such as a CPA or equivalent
  • A minimum of seven (7) years 7 years in a Financial Controllership role
  • Prior experience within a professional services and/or financial services environment
  • An aptitude for solving complex financial and analytical issues and the ability to create and implement leading practices for improving processes
  • Computer proficiency; significant advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Confidence in raising concerns to leaders and interacting with them on a frequent basis
  • Supervision or coaching of junior colleagues

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Strong understanding of the business (e.g., how professional service firms generate and recognize revenue, measure utilization and productivity of resources and accurately calculate the value of unbilled client receivables)
  • Ability to adapt to use of EY software applications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, as overtime will be required during peak busy season periods
  • Integrity within a professional environment
