As a Failure Analysis (FA) Support Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting technical lab work which supports product failure analysis and materials development investigations. You will develop and execute SOPs focused on producing world-class analysis outcomes in the areas of sample preparation and physical/chemical/thermal analysis. You will provide technical support for materials and failure analysis investigations with the goal of driving design and manufacturing improvements. To enable this, you will become an expert in the following:
• Optical inspection and measurements
• Mechanical cross sectioning and associated sample preparation
• 2D and computed tomography (CT) X-ray inspection methods
• Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques
• FA Lab equipment maintenance

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics, or similar)
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with failure analysis techniques in consumer electronics, e.g. OM, SEM/EDX, XRF, FTIR, 3D surface profiling, 2D/3D X-ray, cross-section, dye & pry, etc.
• Excellent written/communication skills
• Experience of writing lab reports
• Experience with lab safety best-practices

• Experience with failure analysis methodology to derive a root-cause diagnosis of failure
• Experience in program management being highly desirable
