The role of a taxonomist is an integral part of the tech industry, as it is aimed at improving the overall searchability of websites. These professionals organize and categorize material on websites and databases in order to make it easier to find information. Taxonomists must have an extensive awareness of the terminology and language commonly used in the industry, and exhibit a close attention to detail in their work. At Expoint, taxonomists will play a major role in ensuring the website is easily navigable and searchable. They will use search analytics to review user patterns and conduct research to ensure that categorization and search results are optimized to provide an optimal user experience. Taxonomists also play an integral part in developing brand-level taxonomies. This involves creating an inventory of terms for metadata and creating dimensional hierarchies for products and services. By creating a comprehensive taxonomy, taxonomists ensure that all information onsite is well-categorized, easily searchable, and relevant to the company’s brand and purpose. In this role, the successful candidate must have excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate work. Taxonomists must also possess excellent communication skills and meet with stakeholders as needed to discuss strategy, develop taxonomies, and provide guidance and consultation. As a Taxonomist role at Expoint, you should be prepared to display your dramatic problem-solving and communication skills while providing a unique and valuable experience to the site visitors, making their search experience all the more meaningful.
