The Oracle Database Administrator is a vital member of the IT team who is responsible for the smooth running of the Oracle Database management system. An Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will carry out a variety of tasks including installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, back-up, and disaster recovery of the Oracle Database. Additionally, a DBA can create and modify user accounts, troubleshoot and resolve database issues, develop and maintain database tables, and ensure data security and integrity through the use of security practices and implementing rules.
To become an Oracle Database Administrator, applicants need to possess analytical and problem-solving skills, have a deep understanding of database systems and their associated hardware, and be well versed in business applications. Additionally, they should also have a working knowledge of scripting languages and database security protocols.
As an Oracle Database Administrator working at Expoint, you will be interacting with internal teams and external vendors, working on a team environment to assist in the development and implementation of the database system. In addition, you will need to have a good grasp of database tools such as Oracle Application Express and SQL Developer, have experience in managing database servers and performance tuning, and developing database objects.
A successful Oracle Database Administrator will be able to ensure data accuracy, consistency, integrity, and security within the database environment. Additionally, they will also act as a leader and mentor to junior DBAs and support the database architecture of various environments.
