They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the data center, from installation and maintenance of hardware and software to troubleshooting equipment issues, monitoring performance and providing customer support.
Data center technicians must be able to analyze data, look for clues and design solutions to improve the performance of the data center using their knowledge of the newest data center technologies and best practices. They must also be able to manage and maintain multiple databases, monitor data center performance, verify data backups and develop, execute, and implement continuous improvement plans.
Data center technicians must be detail-oriented individuals who are comfortable working on the latest hardware and software platforms in highly protected environments. The successful candidate should possess a keen eye for security and monitoring, excellent documentation, and must be competent in configuring and managing core data center technologies such as storage, networking, switches, and servers.
