As an alarm technician, your primary responsibility is to install and maintain security systems in residential and commercial settings. This includes designing and configuring alarm systems to meet the client's needs, as well as troubleshooting and resolving any system-related issues.
Your daily tasks may include determining and addressing system troubles, performing electrical repairs on circuits, programming and commissioning of security systems, and remotely configuring, diagnosing and testing complicated alarm systems. You will use sophisticated diagnostic tools and systems to ensure that the equipment runs smoothly and is compliant with all relevant standards.
As an alarm technician, you will be expected to exhibit excellent customer service and communication skills as you interface with customers to identify and solve issues. You will also need a solid understanding of arithmetic, electrical circuits and reading and understanding technical diagrams. The ability to install even the most intricate of alarm systems is a must-have skill.
