Your key responsibilities

You'll spend your time supporting client engagements by coordinating day-to-day interactions with clients, reviewing staff work product, driving delivery of services to meet deadlines, developing internal team members, and managing engagement economics. You'll continuously build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to complex situations. Identifying and resolving tax technical issues and sharing insights to improve our efficiency will be a key component. In addition, you'll partner with other team members to help identify new opportunities to leverage to your clients across multiple service lines.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a graduate degree in Tax or Law and approximately five years of related work experience
  • CPA certification or licensed attorney status
  • A background in tax compliance and accounting for income tax and a broad understanding of US income taxation
  • Experience managing budgets and projects
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and data mining tools
  • The ability to prioritize when working on multiple projects, and the confidence to engage and integrate directly into our clients' teams
  • Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment

Ideally, you'll also have

  • A proven record in a professional services environment
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members

In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.

License Compliance Services - Manager

This position leads and drives the compliance function, manages the overall engagement team (US and GDS), and supervises & evaluates the assigned analysts & seniors and their work product. This position requires a deep understanding of license compliance services. This position reviews completed returns for approval and submission to clients and is also responsible for the training and development of junior staff, managing GDS, and overall project management including client interactions and engagement economics.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in client facing meetings
  • Communicate engagement expectations to assigned analysts and/or seniors
  • Prepare engagement contracts and agreements
  • Own client communications and drive solutions, focus on client deliverables and status against plan
  • Manage to projected budget and ability to forecast budget changes
  • Prepare timely billings
  • Ability and willingness to sell new solutions and work
  • Manage client expectations proactively to ensure satisfaction
  • Build client relationships through technical and business expertise
  • Manage junior staff in actively maintaining compliance calendar (EY Decisions), monitoring deadlines, raising issues to next level, pulling reports for client delivery
  • Utilize EY methodologies and tools that exist to enhance service delivery
  • Deal with roadblocks and issues, providing suggestions and alternatives
  • Reference and interpret standards using professional judgement, identifying noncompliance while applying a balanced view of all client matters
  • Consult with Senior Leadership in the Firm as necessary
  • Apply Tax Quality and Independence rules to engagements

Skills and attributes for Success

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a professional services or tax services organization
  • CPA, JD, Enrolled Agent or other appropriate designation required
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communications skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced professional services environment
  • Computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint,
  • A commitment to following through effectively on client requests
  • Ability to develop knowledge of various client industries
  • Strong management skills needed to lead teams, delegate appropriately, mentor, review performance and counsel employees
  • High degree of efficiency and ability to design and implement improvements in various tasks/processes on engagements
