As a Tax Senior you will be part of this story and will have responsibility for advising our high profile clients as they navigate the sea of international tax change, all the while building your profile as a trusted business advisor.

You’ll be given the opportunity to be a core member of our team, meeting with high profile clients to understand and help shape their agenda. You will be at the forefront of managing both the impact of global tax law change, and also how tax is delivered as a service offering to clients, supported by cutting edge analytics, automation and robotics.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing compliance and advisory work.
  • Supporting multidisciplinary advisory projects.

Your key responsibilities

  • Growing the finance optimisation business by actively pursuing new business opportunities, client contacts and areas of growth;
  • Networking & representing the FAAS practice at events, client seminars and similar;
  • Leading the day to day delivery on client engagement projects to maintain quality and our promise for exceptional service delivery to all our clients;
  • Client management and liaison with senior client stakeholders with a view to build strong working relationships with our clients.
  • Managing performance of junior team members through on the job coaching, mentoring and providing constructive and timely performance feedback;
  • Liaison with other EY teams and Service lines, is necessary, to ensure seamless solution to our clients;
  • Keeping engagement leaders updated on progress on the engagement and bringing to their attention any issues in a timely manner with proposed solutions;
  • Leading consultations and research in line with agreed engagement execution plans to support deliverables to our clients;
  • Preparation of high-quality client deliverables including (but not limited to) technical accounting analysis papers, GAAP compliant financial statements, project reports, special purpose financial information, accounting policies documentation and the implementation of improvements to our clients’ internal control environments;
  • Presentation of the results of our work to senior team members or clients in a clear and concise manner;
  • Development of our talent pool through our internal people initiative like training, counselling, mentoring, role modelling and promoting general wellbeing of our people.

We

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Accountancy qualified (ACCA / ACA / CPA / CA or Equivalent).
  • A minimum of 10 years post qualified experience.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS, and FRS 102.
  • Strong technical writing skills and advanced risk management knowledge.
  • Experience in finance process optimisation, including controls and process design and ideally experience in the adoption of technology tools or automations including RPA, OCR, Process Mining, Blackline, PowerBI, Oracle Cloud, SAP/S4,

Ideally, you will also have

  • US GAAP and SOX knowledge.
  • Proven ability and interest in business development & networking.
  • Proven ability to work on complex accounting issues and transactions and an ability to clearly articulate the advice in written deliverables.
  • Proven experience leading the planning, execution and reporting on engagements.
  • Good working knowledge of finance governance and reporting, finance operations, processes and internal controls.
  • Industry experience.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness.

  • Lead the delivery of complex corporate tax compliance and advisory projects for financial services clients, including banks, insurers, and asset managers, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial relevance.
  • Manage tax implications of cross-border transactions, including structuring, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration, with a focus on BEPS Pillar 2 and international tax reform.
  • Interpret and apply Irish and international tax legislation to client scenarios, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, and VAT, ensuring compliance and identifying planning opportunities.

As a Tax Senior you will be part of this story and will have responsibility for advising our high profile clients as they navigate the sea of international tax change, all the while building your profile as a trusted business advisor.

You’ll be given the opportunity to be a core member of our team, meeting with high profile clients to understand and help shape their agenda. You will be at the forefront of managing both the impact of global tax law change, and also how tax is delivered as a service offering to clients, supported by cutting edge analytics, automation and robotics.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing compliance and advisory work.
  • Supporting multidisciplinary advisory projects.
  • Building client relationships and liaising with Revenue Authorities.
  • Driving internal networking and people development.
  • Leveraging technology and managing working capital.
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for financial services clients, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct tax accrual reviews and audit support, including documentation preparation and liaising with tax authorities during inquiries or audits.
  • Develop tax-efficient strategies aligned with client business goals, including analysis of financial data and identification of tax-saving opportunities.
  • Research and interpret complex tax legislation, including global tax law changes and BEPS Pillar 2 implications, and communicate their impact to clients.
  • Advise on corporate restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions, including due diligence and transaction tax planning.

  • A self-motivated and ambitious individual, with a determination to develop their career and grow a business in fast paced and ever changing environment.
  • Evolving technical, interpersonal and client relationship skills.
  • Desire to advance in building client relationships and business development activities.
  • Demonstration, and a track record, of an ability to work with a team of people to deliver a quality service to clients.

To qualify for the role, you should be

  • Qualified or partially qualified in ACA (or equivalent); or
  • AITI qualified or equivalent qualification in a country with a similar tax system (e.g. UK);
  • Working or have worked in an Irish tax role either in practice or industry
  • Technically strong and keen to develop further.
