Our indirect tax compliance professionals support large multinational clients with their indirect tax obligations in EMEIA and globally. Dealing with the indirect tax compliance requirements is the heart of the operations but this goes hand in hand with VAT advisory, data and technology support which we provide or coordinate with our specialist teams. We apply a client centric approach meaning that our professionals are organized per client, and not per country or region, to maximize the knowledge of our client’s business.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Consultant, you will be working on a selection of clients where you are the “assistant VAT Controller” for the VAT/GST compliance outsourced to EY, including:

  • Act as central point of contact – liaise with your international clients and colleagues with respect to European VAT and VAT compliance
  • Monitoring, and giving feedback on, the quality of our client’s indirect tax data (using AI and other technologies) and reports of your clients
  • Review and approve indirect tax returns
  • Follow up on legislative changes and business changes in order to ensure that our client’s systems and/or processes are updated
  • Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve the VAT compliance processes and our client’s data
  • Coordinate VAT compliance advisory, technology, controversy and audit support
  • Coordinate with other VAT controllers and report to the client’s Process Owner at EY (Senior Manager or above)
  • Supervise and coach junior team members
  • Actively participate to the training and coaching session in your development plan to ensure continuous development of your technical knowledge.

Skills and attributes for success

  • A Bachelor/master’s degree in economics or equivalent, potentially with a supplementary degree in fiscal matters.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in EMEIA VAT compliance, either in industry or with other service providers.
  • Interest and curiosity in data interrogation and AI
  • Basic understanding of other compliance activities such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance.
  • Basic understanding of IT-systems and VAT/GST reporting solutions
  • Fluent in English – written and spoken. Any additional European language is an asset
  • Innovative & problem resolution focus with strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Data driven decision making / data analytics and interpretation
  • Client centric, curious mindset

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in power system analysis and design
- Proficiency in using power system analysis software, such as ETAP, PSS®E, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSCAD.
- Experience with transmission and distribution systems, generation, renewable energy and energy storage systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data.


Preferred Qualifications

- Chartered Engineer (or working towards) with a recognized body
- Experience in substation design and protection system coordination
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and distributed generation technologies
- 3 years of experience directly related to data center or mission critical facility design.
