Your Key Responsibilities

Your responsibility will include conducting forensic investigations of economic crime and, if necessary, working with clients' legal teams in dispute resolution. As an advisor to various organizations, you will play a key role in establishing and maintaining effective control mechanisms for managing risks associated with the prevention and detection of abuse.

You will work closely with other team members, together developing strategies that are in line with the highest standards and practices in forensic investigations as defined by ACFE. In addition, you will provide clients with expert advice in the field of risk management and abuse prevention, which will contribute to your professional advancement.

Skills and attributes for success

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the field of forensic investigations, auditing, accounting, compliance, internal control, AML and CFT and/or risk management standards
  • A higher education degree in accounting, finance, law, economics, business administration, or another relevant academic direction; a higher education degree in mathematics, computer science, and data science combined with professional experience in forensics is also appropriate

• Plan and monitor the progress of due diligence fieldwork and inform Managers of the engagement status
• Identify specific transaction risks through historical analyses and direct discussions with Target company’s management
• Prepare detailed due diligence reports and databooks (excel) for clients, clearly communicating key findings, risks, and recommendations.
• Prepare analyses of historical and pro forma financial information to assess trends and fluctuations that may impact cash flow requirements and deal valuation
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial data and documentation
• Conduct in-depth industry research to support due diligence efforts, including market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and identification of potential risks and opportunities.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
• Share your technical and other knowledge with your team
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
• Contribute to business development efforts by preparing proposals, pitch materials, and client presentations

• Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Analysis or Business Planning/Financial mathematics
• 3-5 years of experience in the field of transaction support (preparation of due diligences), accounting, banking or mergers & acquisitions (Big4 experience is considered an advantage)
• Professional accounting designation i.e. ACCA, CFA is considered an advantage
• Familiar with advanced concepts of accounting including IFRS
• Ability to analyze financial and non-financial information to formulate views and conclusions.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking
• Diligent approach and dedication to all assigned tasks
• Excellent project and time-management skills
• Excellent presentation skills and experience with data visualization/presentation
• Ability to lead small teams and coach and develop junior team members
• Strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Croatian and English
• Excellent MS Excel knowledge
