Job Summary

In this role, you will control flow of products and materials to and from manufacturing areas. Ship, receive, label, and properly store products and materials. Load and unload trucks. Operate industrial forklifts in a safe and professional manner. Transport supplies, tooling and equipment as required. Maintain high accuracy level on paperwork and electronic transactions / records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Production Supply and Warehousing
      • Supply manufacturing areas with pallets, components, bags, boxes, lining material, and other materials as requested.
      • Ensure timely and neat stock placement so products remain damage-free.
      • Rotate stock to maintain FEFO (first expired, first out) and/or FIFO (first in, first out).
      • Maintain work areas following 6S guidelines and complete required cleaning tasks.
      • Execute cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
    • Shipping and Receiving
      • Pull, label, and/or band, wrap, or otherwise prepare product for shipment to 3PL or for customer shipments.
      • Load product, materials, or equipment on freight carriers.
      • Unload inbound materials, equipment, and supplies.
      • Verify accuracy of paperwork, label, and put away materials in warehouse bins.
      • Follow all applicable procedures if damage is discovered during loading or unloading.
    • Utility
      • Assemble and supply cardboard totes to the production floor.
      • Assemble and supply scrap totes to manufacturing areas. Collect and process scrap for trash or recycle as needed.
      • Remove trash from production floor and empty dumpsters in the trash compactor.
      • Remove scrapped cardboard from production floor, load and empty cardboard compactor.
      • Load the scrap trailer(s).
      • Perform necessary paperwork and electronic transactions / records applicable to actions performed. Maintain high level of accuracy
      • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Work Experience
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Job Summary

Assists the Production Supervisor in the daily operations of the Direct Labor Department. In addition, this position requires performing all essential duties for all direct labor positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Take over information at shift change, using Excel to prepare shift change papers.
    • Perform basic troubleshooting, cleaning, and maintenance tasks on molding and finishing equipment as directed.
    • Utilize Intouch for production scheduling, tracking, and capturing data.
    • Prepare production shop packets and labels. Review completed shop packets for accuracy.
    • Issue non-conforming material reports when defective lining material, bags, etc. are found.
    • Basic use of SAP: checking inventory balances, locating products and materials.
    • Responsible for Central Stores activities as needed.
    • Maintain a routine presence on the production floor to monitor and support all activities.
    • Work on special projects as directed by the Production Supervisor.
    • Monitor alarm systems for the facility and facilitate emergency response activities as designated.
    • Accident response, reporting, and investigation.
    • Ensure policies, rules, regulations, and procedures are followed. Report and document incidents.
    • Edit Kronos.
    • Follow call-in instructions on off-shifts and weekends to obtain coverage for all essential production activities.
    • Contact department managers if circumstances arise that require their input.
    • Train new hires on job functions in addition to certifying on procedures.
    • Actively participate and comply with all West HSE programs and regulations.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment in accordance with West 5S program.
    • Maintains methods/procedures and all supporting documentation to meet the requirements of Quality Systems ISO 13485:2016
    • Performs additional duties at the request of the direct supervisor.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required and
Work Experience
  • 5+ years production experience; with 2 year lead experience
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements would be an advantage.

  • Setting shift rotation for the month.
  • Working closely with other shift leaders including production supervisors.
  • Coordinating warehouse activities to effectively facilitate operations, ensuring production has needed material, trailers are offloaded, and maximizing cube on outbound trailers to the 3PL.
  • Participate in new hire onboarding, tours of the plant and work area. Pair new hires with a West trainer on shift.
  • Create safety alerts and investigate incidents and/or accidents. Participate in ECFA meetings.
  • Escalating material needs to MC Specialists or Warehouse Manager
  • Making small inventory adjustments, especially after business hours.
  • Creating and/or procuring BOLs for shuttle transfers, especially after business hours.
  • Backfilling and/or assisting Material Handlers during busy days, vacations, PTO, call offs, etc.

  • Monitor silo levels and schedule silo material deliveries.
  • Perform receiving of inbound raw materials and create pallet labels
  • Escalate discrepancies on packing lists, certs, etc to Procurement and/or Quality.
  • Issue non-conforming product (NCR) form for item(s) with discrepancie(s).
  • Indirect material receipts of items and supplies sent to Central Stores.
  • Monitor and order both standard and CHEP pallets.
  • Arrange carriers for inbound shipments as needed.
  • Prepare weekly shipping schedule based on released sales orders and create delivery-due list for QA to ensure shipments are released on time and in full.
  • Prepare all necessary shipping documents and labels, collect certifications from QA, and coordinate any special shipping requirements (tailgates, air bags, pictures, etc)
  • Schedule shipments with carriers or freight forwarders per customer requirements.
  • Provide freight estimates upon request.
  • Ensure daily SAP transactions are complete and accurate. Investigate and resolve inventory and transactional errors.
  • Basic filing and record keeping of all Material Control documentation.
  • Monitor cycle counts and research errors for root cause and correction.
  • Assist Material Control Supervisor with tasks needed by Finance with month-end and year-end close.
Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years Warehouse/inventory control experience required and
  • Previous manufacturing work experience preferred
