Description:

As the Operations Team Leader, you will oversee the daily activities within the warehouse, ensuring that all team members follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will play a key role in supporting the management team by ensuring operational efficiency and timely completion of tasks.

This is a rotating shift role, alternating weekly between morning and afternoon shifts,6am -2pm and 2pm – 10pm, requiring flexibility and strong coordination skills.

Your leadership will foster a positive and collaborative working environment, motivating the team and strengthening internal relationships. You will also provide critical support to the Manager through investigations, reporting, cross-departmental coordination, and project execution. In the Manager’s absence, you will act as a deputy to maintain continuity and performance.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

Main Accountabilities:

  • To monitor workflow, identifying any developing situation and agree corrective action with the appropriate manager
  • Monitor operations and resolve any problems when identified, using appropriate resource available
  • Deliver and manage tasks according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform investigations of GDP, EHS breaches and deviations from procedures ensuring Investigation Reports (IRs) and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) are closed out on time
  • Monitor budgets and work with the manager to review the annual budget
  • Complete return to work interviews with Operatives with the support of the manager and look for trends of absence as well as supporting them back into the workplace
  • Ensure KPI targets are monitored and achieved
  • Support the manager with all disciplinary and grievance issues in accordance with the organisational policies
  • Support the manager in the recruitment process as and when necessary
  • To understand the process flow within the entire operation
  • Escalate any system or hardware failures
  • Ensure regular 121’s are documented and relevant feedback is provided to employees
  • Identify over performers and highlight individuals as talent to the Manager
  • Identify under performers and suggest solutions and support to enable improvements
  • Constantly look at operational improvements
  • Communicate with the team through regular briefings, to enable the sharing of company information. Creating a team environment and value through effective communication, motivation, equality and encouragement
  • Ensure Good Housekeeping at all times
  • To work with peers to ensure smooth running of the shift
  • Undertake any other required tasks as requested by the Line Manager

Do You Have?

  • Proven track record in supervising and guiding teams in high-paced logistics or warehouse environments, with hands-on experience using a WMS, ideally Blue Yonder.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse systems and logistics workflows.
  • Familiarity with health and safety protocols, supported by IOSH knowledge or certification.
  • Although not essential, preferably we'd be looking for a background in regulated environments with a focus on Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and quality standards.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office tools for reporting, planning, and communication.

Description:

This role is responsible for leading activities supporting facilities and equipment maintenance by ensuring the technicians and contractors have the tools, resources and training needed to support the Ridings Point facility and utilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team leader of 3 Technicians
  • Key user for CMMS system and weekly planner
  • First point of escalation for breakdowns across the Distribution centre
  • Plans and organises contractor work on site following annual compliance and maintenance planner
  • Point of contact for contractors and main Permit issuer for all activity on site
  • Plans and executes follow up work from statutory inspection
  • Ensure timely completion of critical calibration tasks
  • Drive a positive safety and compliance culture
  • Manages spare part ordering and stock level
  • Key user on Ariba / SAP to raise facilities PO’s
  • Hands on completion of own PPMs
  • Liaise with commercial quality and support implementation of change controls
  • Lead RCA and accident investigations
  • Aids follow through on site CAPEX plans
  • SOP author for facilities team across Ridings point and Harlow
  • Maintain 5’s standards of facilities owned areas
  • Attend site meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders – site staff / Ops / H and S / contractors
  • Conduct contractor inductions when they are either expired or new to site
  • Conduct annual contractor / supplier review
  • Lead team meetings when technical manager is off site
  • Identify new suppliers and service providers that can add value to the site through a better or different service.
  • Ensure email alerts for critical systems are monitored and reacted to in timely manner (Building management and Environmental management systems as well as server rooms)
  • Proactively monitor and analyse reports generated from BMS and EMS systems and react as necessary
  • Lead annual reviews of all facilities RA’s and COSHH assessments

Do You Have?

  • An Engineering Apprenticeship / Degree
  • IOSH managing safely
  • Working knowledge of PUWER / LOLER
  • Experience managing a team of Technicians (or general team management)
  • Experience in managing contractors and suppliers
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages / CMMS and CAFM

  • AutoCad & IPAF (3a & 3b) would bot be desireable
