What to Expect

As a Tesla Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime. Tesla's Equipment Maintenance is also the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running. This is a physically demanding job working in tight spaces, requiring walking and standing all day, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day. In addition, the technician may wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or from a suspended position. Maintenance Technicians will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize other hand tools and power tools as needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
  • Perform repairs on production-down equipment
  • Operate and repair every cell on a Line
  • Perform Corrective Maintenance (repairs) on more than one of these types of equipment: electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase, mechanical systems, conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC and networks, robotics
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms
What You’ll Bring
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment and/or have equivalent training or relevant education preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings and accurately measure and inspect tolerances
  • Solid electrical knowledge (has a thorough understanding of electrical requirements and hazards)
  • Advanced skills with volt meter to check AC/DC voltage, able to diagnose issues, able to use a schematic diagram to troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Proficient with pneumatics-solenoid valves, actuator and control operations and can read schematics
  • Ability to analyse problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

  • Investigate and implement countermeasures to prevent repetitive breakdowns
  • Assist with electrical and mechanical code compliance, safety, and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Maintain and help develop up-to-date maintenance and calibration procedures and schedules
  • Develop new Maintenance instructions for new equipment or equipment changes, and train Maintenance Teams
  • Manage small projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Military, experience, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in supervision and/or leadership
  • 5+ years of extensive experience with trouble-shooting and correcting industrial equipment maintenance - breakdowns and failure
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance technician management experience in a high-volume manufacturing/industrial environment is required, military or equivalent experience
  • Skilled at troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, welding, robotic and/or pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrated experience with 3-phase 480/208 VAC, single-phase 208/120 VAC, and 24 VDC systems

What to Expect

The Employee Relations Partner conducts investigations into employee relations concerns and supports overall positive workforce engagement. This position is both hands-on and strategic and requires a high degree of collaboration to provide investigative and employee relations expertise. This is a full-time onsite position and can be based in Fremont, CA; Austin, TX; Reno, NV or Buffalo, NY.

What You’ll Do
  • Independently conduct unbiased investigations, determine findings, and prepare all required documentation. This includes but is not limited to preparing a clear and concise report summarizing findings of the investigation as well as maintaining case management/tracking tools
  • Conduct in-person, web-based and phone-based witness interviews. Analyze information collected from witnesses and evidence and reach timely and well-reasoned conclusions. This includes effectively assessing witness credibility and fostering effective communication with all individuals involved in the investigative process
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to all issues, and conduct investigations in an unbiased manner
  • Identify relevant investigation issues, potential evidence and investigative actions and identify and partner with other teams as appropriate to ensure follow-up on employee concerns. Maintain consistent interactions with leaders, partners, and employees to help navigate new or critical situations that require ER expertise spontaneously
  • Participate in projects led by the Employee Relations team as needed
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree, 2-5 years of experience with workplace investigations (experience investigating allegations of harassment, discrimination and retaliation); or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, which govern employment policies and practices
  • Thorough understanding and application of workplace investigations best practices and standards, including conducting neutral fact-finding interviews, navigating key partnerships, credibility assessments, and maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
