What You’ll Do
  • Perform grid code and product safety type testing. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot the EUT, review testing scope and pass/fail criteria with NRTLs
  • Setup test configuration hardware and firmware, post process test results and submit results to certification body
  • Propose and implement process improvement opportunities to facilitate testing and certification process
  • Create configuration file for each country/utility to meet the local grid code requirement
  • Write Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing grid and/or safety compliance requirements
  • Support product registrations and permitting applications
  • Research new market entry requirements
  • Represent Tesla on code committee in renewable energy industry and feed upcoming requirements to internal stakeholders for early adoption
  • Serve as an expert resource for the compliance test engineers
  • Work with NRTLs to achieve product compliance target
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in renewable energy systems certification process
  • Experienced in grid interactive and grid support standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standards
  • Strong lab/test/data analysis/troubleshooting/reporting skills
  • Proven track record in renewable product certifications
  • Highly experienced in grid interaction/support codes and standards

  • Convert problem statements to specification requirements for machinery constructions
  • Compliance validation and data analysis which includes battery systems and battery chargers
  • Perform product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing with Tesla cross functional teams
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Machinery Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in safety evaluations for machinery systems or similar products
  • Understanding the EU CE requirements, North American Listings and APAC regulations and Compliance/ certification experience per ANSI/CAN/UL/IEC/EN/ISO standards
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial machinery safety standards, including but not limited to NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL508A, UL3100, UL 1740, R15.06, R15.08, Z434, IEC 62061, ISO 13849-1, and IEC 61508, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience of taking products through the certification process
  • Ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of various product safety standards
  • Experience with laboratory test equipment and data acquisition systems, such as the oscilloscopes, the power analyzers, data loggers, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components, understanding of how they interact in complex products
  • Knowledge of product safety and compliance, knows how to do the construction reviews and making testing packages per national (ANSI/UL/CAN) and International (IEC/EN/ISO) safety standards
  • Willing to travel nationally and internationally between Tesla facilities and testing laboratories

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with design teams in all phases of electronic product development for EMC, including prototype, verification, and validation
  • Perform product change assessment for EMC and identify applicable EMC tests to satisfy EMC specification and homologation/regulatory requirements
  • Leverage your strong technical background and problem-solving abilities to debug issues and implement fixes during EMC testing, ensuring our products are fully compliant with required standards
  • Experience with EMI filter design and design of common mode and differential mode chokes for noise filtering
  • Perform EMC testing for Tesla Energy Products such as Megapack, Powerwall, Supercharger, etc. and collaborate with EMC troubleshooting efforts
  • Define and lead design of experiments for troubleshooting EMC emissions and immunity issues
  • Coordinate EMC testing with 3rd party laboratories and lead product readiness for EMC testing
  • Review, analyze, and interpret EMC test results; communicate accordingly to cross functional teams
  • Develop and validate EMC test setups for emissions and immunity per test methods such as FCC Part 15, IEC 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -6 etc.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) and switching waveforms
  • Familiarity with schematic capture, power converter and electro-magnetic circuit simulation tools
  • Experience performing EMC testing
  • Working knowledge on instruments required for EMC testing such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, antennas, coupling clamps, field probes, ESD simulators, etc.
  • Basic understanding of Electromagnetic theory applied to EMC testing
  • Hands-on experience in debugging radiated and conducted emissions and immunity issues
  • Knowledge of EMC test standards as per FCC and EN regulations
  • Familiar with communication protocols like CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB for product instrumentation and communication monitoring for EMC testing is a plus
  • Willing to travel nationally and internationally between Tesla facilities and certification laboratories
