What You’ll Do
  • Prototyping using overnight machined parts from our fabrication shop
  • Participate in machine risk assessments and ensure safety standards are met
  • Review electrical schematics and assist with hardware definition / architecture
  • Create application design documentation/flow charts and conduct software design reviews
  • Program all software for unique projects with a variety of needs (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Servo, Robotics, Machine Vision, etc.)
  • Test and verify electrical wiring (safety circuits, IO, communications, etc.)
  • Debug and test all software to meet project requirements
  • Test run equipment to validate software quality and performance
  • Work with assembly personnel and mechanical design engineer to ensure all mechanical setups and alignments are properly completed
  • Work to ensure the project requirements are fulfilled and the equipment performance is excellent before it is shipped to the factory
What You’ll Bring
  • 1 or more years of experience in custom automation
  • PLC controls (Siemens primary, Rockwell Automation secondary)
  • HMI/SCADA (WinCC primary, Ignition secondary)
  • Experience with controls hardware including sensors, remote IO, servos, VFDs, machine vision, barcode readers, etc.
  • Industrial networking protocols: Profinet, Ethernet TCP/IP, Ethernet I/P, EtherCAT, etc.
  • Robots: 6-axis (FANUC primary, Kuka secondary)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls and Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with project manager and other design engineers to develop robust, safe, and efficient electrical designs for industrial equipment
  • Evaluate and select between various forms of industrial control system hardware to meet machine specific requirements, such as PLCs, I/O, motor controls and network devices
  • Create electrical and pneumatic schematics and bills of materials using EPLAN Electric P8
  • Design custom industrial control panels, including layouts and calculations for loads, heat, and SCCR, and interface with panel shop during the build
  • Manage tight schedules to ensure that control panels and critical commercial parts meet the project build schedule
  • Support assembly and debug operations by providing direction on electrical assembly and troubleshooting issues that arise during build
  • Potential to travel to the Tesla factories to assist with installation and startup
What You’ll Bring
  • 3 or more years of experience in electrical design for custom automation using EPLAN Electric P8 (strongly preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Strong knowledge of electrical concepts and best practices, including three phase power distribution, control logic, and industrial networking protocols
  • Hands-on experience working with and troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic systems
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of industrial automation hardware, including PLC hardware (Siemens and Allen-Bradley), VFDs and servomotors, DC control circuits, I/O and field instrumentation, and pneumatic valves and cylinders
  • Proficiency in using US electrical standards NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience

What You’ll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field

  • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes. Experience specifically with automotive manufacturing environment a plus

  • Proficiency with CAD (AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks)

  • Strong propensity to build, assemble, fix and program things

  • Hands-on experience, previous internship, and/or project experience is preferred, particularly with machines and mechanisms

  • Coursework in analog and digital circuits, control systems, logic, and programming

  • Exposure to programming microcontrollers

  • Use of common power and hand tools

  • Programming experience in C++, Python, SQL or similar language

  • Industrial electrical panel design

  • PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff or similar)

  • HMI/SCADA programming (WinCC, Ignition or similar)

  • Servo motors and controllers (SINAMICS, Kinetix or similar)

  • FEA and Simulation programming

  • Hands on CNC machining experience

  • Experience with industrial robots (Fanuc, Kuka, or similar)

  • Experience with stamping simulation software such as Autoform or Pamstamp

  • Experience using blue light scanner or PC-DMIS /Hexagon CMM
