  • Implement the technical definition for global Tesla 4680 Cell Manufacturing in the Austin, TX Gigafactory
  • Be a critical technical interface between design, manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, and the factory
  • Work with factory teams to drive/implement solutions on the manufacturing floor to include supporting/reviewing deviations, allowance criteria, and engineering trials
  • Work with quality systems teams to ensure adoption of best practices across the 4680 network
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments at the product and manufacturing level to identify opportunity and drive mitigation of risks and improve yield
  • Interface with reliability engineering teams to implement findings from the field, lifetime testing, as well as abuse engineering
  • Take a lead role in problem solving efforts when necessary
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience, with a commensurately advanced level of competency in science/engineering fundamentals
  • Proven extensive expertise/experience with lithium-ion cells. This is likely to include at least 5 years but more likely 10+ years of experience dedicated in the field. Due to the breadth of this field, that could include any number of the following areas from an engineering and/or manufacturing perspective: Design (mechanical, chemical); Electrode; Cell Assembly (any format); Formation and Aging; Cell Test (qualification, reliability, abuse, etc.); and Failure Analysis
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Additionally desired but not required experience: hands-on experience building cells; data analytical skills using multiple platforms and languages; experienced background in statistics; working understanding of Quality Systems fundamentals

  • Define quality processes and procedures across all stages of die design, machining, assembly, and final inspection
  • Collaborate with design, machining, and project teams to ensure build quality, adherence to specs, and functional performance
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues and non-conformances
  • Establish and monitor quality KPIs, including scrap rates, rework, dimensional accuracy, and customer feedback
  • Lead first-piece inspections, in-process checks, and final quality audits
  • Utilize tools such as CMMs, GD&T, SPC, FMEAs, and control plans to ensure quality standards are met
  • Work closely with customers and suppliers to resolve quality concerns and implement improvements
  • Facilitate training for shop floor personnel on quality standards, procedures, and continuous improvement practices
  • Drive a culture of quality and accountability throughout the organization
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in tooling, die manufacturing, or metal casting environments
  • Strong understanding of HPDC tooling, machining, and inspection methods
  • Hands-on experience building or maintaining a QMS (ISO 9001 experience preferred)
  • Proficient in GD&T, SPC, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), and other quality tools
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and collaborating with cross-functional teams and die casting industry standards/tolerances
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection equipment (CMMs, height gauges, micrometers, etc.)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies

What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Industrial or Commercial Electrician; facility maintenance experience preferred
  • Proficient in using trade tools, meters, and relevant technology to perform tasks effectively
  • Skilled in sizing conductors and conduits, with strong knowledge of the NEC Code Book

  • Respond to confined space, trench, rescue, high-angle rescue, and entrapments. Respond to hazardous material incidents to contain and mitigate life and environmental hazards
  • Provide basic/advanced life support during medical emergencies associate with trauma, chemical exposure, or medical emergencies
  • Collaborate with On Site Medical (OSM) team to ensure the best possible patient care and outcome. Support stakeholders with emergency action plans, emergency drills, and emergency communication
  • Provides detailed verbal, written, and computer reports pertaining to condition and care of patients. Organize, file, and maintain safety documentation (e.g., one note records, pass down logs,); Ensure all support documentation is collected for event reports.
  • Maintain a strong presence throughout the site engaging with shop stakeholders and production associates while fostering a robust safety culture. Support EHS Specialists with safety concerns and assist with coordination of safety supplies (first aid kits, eyewash stations, etc.)
  • Safely and efficiently operates emergency response and powered industrial vehicles. Perform confined space inventory, classification, and incident pre-planning. Support facility operations to minimize loss of production time
What You’ll Bring
  • Required - Firefighter 1 and 2 (IFSAC/Pro Board or TCFP), current National Registry Paramedic or TDSHS Paramedic, HazMat Awareness/Operations (HazMat Technician Preferred), FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 Certifications
  • Valid driver's license required to be able to operate assigned fleet
  • Rope Rescue/Confined Space Rescue Certifications Preferred
  • Fire Instructor 1 Preferred, OSHA 10 Certification - Completion required within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to rapidly respond to employee health emergencies, discern audible alarms and activate emergency procedures
