Your impact

You will lead complex, multidisciplinary projects supporting energy transition, including initiatives in renewable energy, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and battery storage. You’ll also have the opportunity to lead the siting and permitting of advanced facilities including data centers. You will play a key role in expanding our environmental planning business by identifying and pursuing new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and building strategic partnerships. Your ability to grow our business and position Jacobs for future work will be essential to our continued success. Mentorship is also a key part of this role, you’ll contribute to the development of junior and mid-level staff and help foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in the successful execution of complex projects, with a focus on aligning project outcomes with client strategic goals.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent projects and teams, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  • Identify industry trends and provide strategic insights to shape Jacobs’ positioning in the evolving energy transition market at both regional and national levels.
  • Drive business development efforts by identifying and securing new project and program opportunities, leveraging established relationships with clients.
  • Expand service offerings by identifying opportunities to introduce new capabilities and solutions that align with client needs and market demands.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively respond to emerging challenges and opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Advance Jacobs’ capabilities by contributing to geographic expansion, technical innovation, and integrated service delivery.
  • Represent Jacobs’ externally through thought leadership, including authoring white papers, presenting at industry conferences, and participating in professional seminars.
  • Support the development of high-performing, cross-functional project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards throughout project execution.
  • Pursue continuous professional development, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry practices, technologies, and regulatory changes.

As a Senior Environmental Planner/Project Manager, you will lead environmental permitting and related efforts to support project development and meeting client objectives and project-specific internal financial goals. Key Responsibilities of this Position Include:

  • Serve as Senior Environmental Planner/Project Manager in the successful planning and execution of primarily infrastructure development projects.
  • Develop permitting strategies, provide regulatory guidance, and coordinate environmental resource surveys (biological, cultural) to document existing conditions and to identify sensitive resources on a project site.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews of technical documents.
  • Lead coordination with clients and regulatory agencies to discuss and negotiate project impacts, permitting requirements, and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide mentorship, growth, and direction to junior and mid-level staff, and aid in their career growth.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to complete projects on time and on budget.

Strategy And Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Work with Jacobs Client Account Managers and Operations on strategic pursuits, including proposals and business development.
  • Conduct business development activities through direct client contact.
  • Lead proposal and cost development activities for environmental tasks.

Your impact

As the Assistant Project Director, you’ll take the lead on developing and communicating the project work plan, monitor manpower and performance against that work plan, and be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against each other to ensure coordination between each of the various project trades. You’ll provide direction to the team regarding quality, safety, and general day-to-day operations. Your ability to coordinate onsite work schedules with the client’s staff and manage multiple projects at a time will be critical to your success. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of your team.

  • Document control and management of PMIS files
  • Manage, track and report on, public outreach documents, DBE compliance, and
    invoice review and processing for payment for client contracts.
  • Perform record-keeping tasks including workflow approvals, composing daily diaries,
  • meeting records and maintaining Project logs, RFIs, submittal logs and agreements using a Project Management Information System software.
  • Maintain detailed files for the State of New York for all Project documents.
  • Communicate clearly and timely with the Project Team as issues arise from funding, scheduling, invoicing, contract compliance, change orders, public concerns, etc.
  • Monitor permit compliance and coordination of easement closure with other state agencies
  • Perform vendor responsibility reviews and provide list of approved vendors
  • monthly.
  • Review distribute and approve all public facing materials, public interactions, and responses
  • Monitor damage and public claims and ensure satisfactory resolution.
  • On a monthly basis review, comment or approve all DBE, M/WBE, and SDVOB documentation.
  • Assist in document control for contract closeout.
  • Assist in coordination with design-builder and department staff on issues related to contract compliance, invoices, permit closeout and contract closeout documents.
Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis, as required by the nature of their role.
