Based in Farmington, NM, you’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant including maintenance of equipment and quality control testing. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent, observe variations in operating conditions, and interpret meter and gauge readings. Here’s what you will be doing:

Your role will be to learn and train with Project Engineers and Project Manager throughout construction and, closeout. Following the project scope, schedules and budgets, you will develop your skills to ensure the project remains on task. Your main tasks may include reviewing submittals, processing Requests for Information, updating as-built documentation, subcontractor and supplier coordination, inventory inspection, daily reporting, and other duties as assigned. You’ll attend weekly construction meetings, promote jobsite safety, and apply critical thinking skills to resolve problems out in the field on the project are tasks associated with this role.

Under supervision, performs a variety of tasks associated with learning the associated responsibilities of a certified water/wastewater operator – in preparation for receiving an entry-level certification.

Essential Functions:

• Under the direction of a certified Water or Wastewater Operator, performs tasks associated with the operations of a water or wastewater facility.
• Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent
• Reports operating problems to lead operator or supervisor and performs directed corrective action during assigned shift
• Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
• Observes and reports abnormalities to Certified Operator
• After training, operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control
• After training, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
• Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings
• Learns and gains skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing, and operating tasks.
• Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
• Understands and carries out oral and written directions
• Takes and records readings produced from the operation of equipment
• Learns to take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator
• Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site
• Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
• This position may be required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies
• Travel between work locations is required.

As an, based in, you will be responsible for the implementation of an industrial pretreatment program and recommendations to ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains monitoring data and compliance records.

• Perform grease/sand trap inspections and reporting. Complete all Annual Inspection prior to December first.

• Maintains current list of industrial users and has open communication channels with each.

• Conducts and documents inspections of industrial users.

• Schedules and conducts or coordinates sampling for the purpose of compliance and surcharge monitoring.

• Assists with tracking and interpreting pretreatment program regulations.

• Assists with identifying requirements and responsibilities of POTW and industrial citizens.

• Assists with writing and issuing discharge permits.

• Reviews industrial process changes and needs that may affect discharge to POTW.

• Assists with recommending revisions in local pretreatment regulations and the POTW pretreatment program to keep them current with federal requirements and to meet the process needs of the POTW.

• Assists with reviewing self-monitoring and other monitoring data and determines compliance status.

• Assists with calculating and reporting surcharges for high-strength loadings (if applicable)

• Assists with developing or provides assistance to client in development of Enforcement Response Plan

• Assists with developing and assists in development of technically based local limits.

• Assists with providing technical assistance to client in determination of appropriate enforcement actions.

• Assists POTW operations department in diagnosing process problems and identifying the source.

• Assists with preparing Annual Report and others as required regulatory requirements.

Jacobs is looking for a highly motivatedto be a part of our
Farmington, NMteam. In this role, you'll assist in the development, implementation, and administration of safety, health, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection.

Our Health, Safety & Environment Professionals:

• Perform assessments of Health & Safety performance of projects within their areas of responsibility and generate of report including recommendations to the project in areas requiring improvement.

• Review and assist with training of operations personnel.

• Coordinate and providing training.

• Ensure an overall improving trend for key safety metrics in their area of responsibility TRR, DART, RTW program implementation, etc.

• Communicate gaps in project Health & Safety programs if they are not corrected in a timely manner.

• Have specific knowledge of specialty areas (OSHA 1910 &1926, etc.) and perform onsite audits to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Are responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of Health & Safety disciplines to achieve compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

• Work under very general direction and independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. Responsible for implementation of field and office HS&E program and occupational safety and health regulation in regional operations.

• Monitor and prevent chemical, physical and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the work place.

• May act as a lead person or technical expert and provide direction to less experienced personnel.

• Conduct regular walk through inspections and investigations in accordance with legal requirements.

• Work closely with site management on any procedural roll outs and site compliance.

• Identify and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions and follow through to ensure corrections have been made.

• Investigate personal injury and property damage accidents; compile data, photographs, etc. and prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents; issue various entry permits (i.e. to confine spaces) as required; conduct various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, noise test to ensure safe working conditions; may assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours; may accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.

• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

**This is an on-site position.

Also, as part of the project team you’ll:

• Manage and coordinate activities of multiple contractors engaged in construction of new and repair and replacement of existing water distribution, sewer collection, and water and wastewater treatment system components

• Serve as the liaison between contractor, designers, inspectors and other stakeholders of the project to facilitate communication, decision making and problem solving

• Ensure Adherences to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs in accordance with company/program policies, standards, guides, and contractual commitments

• Ensure timely delivery of construction projects and components within budget in accordance with approved construction and engineering specifications, policies, practices, and quality standards

• Provide guidance to inspection staff and assist with day-to-day outside service agreements activities including phased and final product acceptance, review and approval of invoices, coordination meetings, reporting, and schedule and cost control

• Ensure thorough inspection of construction material, workmanship, documentation, and practices to ensure they meet technical specifications and contractual requirements

• Ensure thorough and accurate daily record of activities, progress, and issues

• Help investigate, document, and report existing site conditions to facilitate project execution

• Communicate effectively relevant project information between cliental and Jacobs management
