This role combines project leadership with championing our transition to OpenRoads technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spearhead geometric design production on assigned projects
• Serve as OpenRoads Lead, overseeing implementation and training
• Lead design teams on major projects and work independently on medium-scale initiatives
• Provide client-facing support and develop solutions with the engineering team
• Review design output of road designers within project teams
• Contribute to design production using OpenRoads
• Troubleshoot designs and foster a learning culture for team upskilling
• Guide junior designers and remote staff in OpenRoads application and design standards
• Interface with Design Managers, Project Engineers, and offshore Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams
• Participate in team, project, and client meetings
• Support sales efforts through tender and proposal contributions

As a Senior Environmental Scientist / Engineer within the Confluence Water program in the Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section, you will take an active role in leading the delivery of projects. This will include technical guidance for more junior staff in supporting the successful execution of field sampling programs and contamination assessment report writing. You will seek to provide mentoring to more junior staff in relation to the broad skills required of a consultant, both technical and softer skills. You will take an active role in business development, responsible for building client relationships that secure repeat work and new work that supports your own personal pipeline as well as that of others in the team. More specifically, this role will include the following tasks that will be performed with support from other members of the team as appropriate:

• Planning and execution of moderately complex projects. You will provide technical guidance to support others on such projects. You may also perform project management and client-facing roles where appropriate. You will be supported by senior technical and project delivery leaders and you will support more junior members of the team.
• Preparation and implementation of key environmental and contamination management documents.
• You will have good knowledge of the regulatory framework and technical elements of the contaminated land sector within NSW, and be able to apply this knowledge to support the delivery of construction works within Confluence Water.
• You will lead simple and moderately complex pursuits as appropriate and provide support as a bid team member for the pursuit of more complex opportunities.
• You will collaborate with other project support teams, stakeholders and delivery partners to help deliver successful project outcomes for Confluence Water and you will support the broader business by providing informal leadership.

You will:

• Develop your consulting, project management and technical skills through delivering a range of environmental consulting projects.
• Help shape NSW’s future as you work with stakeholders, clients and our in-house design teams to drive better, sustainable project outcomes.
• Work with clients throughout the project planning phase in the preparation of environmental constraints reports, scoping documents, review of environmental factors, environmental impact assessments and statutory planning submissions.
• Scope and manage environmental studies and surveys.
• Lead the preparation of high-quality environmental approvals documentation and environmental management plans.

About the Role:

• Support project teams in the successful delivery of renewable energy initiatives.
• Collaborate with regional teams to deliver detailed electrical design for utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, and BESS).
• Support renewable energy development processes, including technical design and due diligence, with guidance from senior team members.
• Contribute to bids, proposals, and client engagement activities.
• Conduct site inspections and report on quality and progress.
