Job Purpose

The New York Stock Exchange (an Intercontinental Exchange company) is seeking a data scientist to serve as an expert member of NYSE Regulation (“NYSER”). The individual who fills this role will work closely with the other members of the NYSER data scientist team. The primary responsibilities of the individual in this position will be to:

  1. implement a comprehensive approach to the use and maintenance of data, technology, artificial intelligence (“AI”), specifically focusing on machine learning (“ML”) and Large Language Models (“LLM”) for regulatory purposes;
  2. design analytical and econometric models of trading activity (including with respect to digital assets and blockchain data) and provide direct data analytics and AI support to groups across the NYSER program, including to NYSER Surveillance & Investigations, NYSER Enforcement, and NYSER Issuer Regulation; and
  3. provide thought leadership on how to strategically enhance NYSER’s data and regulatory technology program, including by leveraging various data sources and by implementing AI and ML across platforms.

NYSER is responsible for monitoring activities on the NYSE’s equities and options markets, and for addressing non-compliance with the NYSE Exchanges’ rules and federal securities laws. NYSER enforces both the NYSE Exchanges’ and their members' compliance with NYSE Exchange rules and applicable federal securities requirements. NYSER also monitors and enforces listed companies’ compliance with applicable listing standards of the NYSE Exchanges. By performing these duties, NYSER supports the NYSE Exchanges’ efforts to promote just and equitable principles of trade, encourage free and open markets, and protect investors and the public interest.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the data and AI/ML expert for NYSER
  • Explore predictive modeling, ML, LLMs and advanced statistical methods and integrate that technology into NYSER’s program
  • Analyze trading data to identify, develop and investigate enforcement cases, and distill the analyses into easily understood visual representations for non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts to define requirements and specifications for new surveillance patterns and enhancements to existing surveillances
  • Implement a comprehensive approach to the use and maintenance of data and technology for regulatory purposes
  • Provide thought leadership on how to strategically enhance NYSER’s data and AI/ML program, including use of the trading and other data to enhance regulatory functions
  • Design analytical and econometric models and perform analyses on vast quantities of data to identify trends in market activity that implicate the surveillance and enforcement programs
  • Facilitate communications between teams with differing levels of expertise on data and technology issues
  • Work with technology teams to identify required data sources and tools to load/incorporate data into NYSER systems and normalize and aggregate data sets when necessary
  • Establish workflows and documentation protocols based on data science best practices to ensure project plans, data models, and other work product can be clearly communicated to various stakeholders
  • Apply data science methods to analyze digital assets and blockchain data
  • Support periodic transitions between technology platforms
  • Represent NYSER on committees relevant to data policy and technology implementation
  • Keep up to date on developments in the field of data science and integrate novel models into NYSER’s program
  • Lead and collaborate with others on ad hoc and special projects

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with eight or more years of experience in data analytics/science, financial engineering, statistics, or a similar field requiredorMaster’s degree with five or more years of experience in these fields required
  • Experience applying AI, including deep learning frameworks and ML, to practical business challenges in capital markets
  • Experience developing a data program is highly preferred
  • Experience in system architecture and design
  • Vision for how to incorporate data and technology into a regulatory program
  • Knowledge of financial and trading markets, especially equity and options trading
  • Experience building and analyzing quantitative trading strategies is highly preferred
  • High proficiency in Python, SQL, data-structured language, and/or other programming languages and analytical tools such as Jupyter notebook
  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud ecosystem preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate about complex data and technology issues to persons with a variety of backgrounds

Job Purpose

The Data Center Operations Engineer (DCOE) is primarily responsible in ensuring that all activities carried out in the Data Center & Access Center’s conform to Data Center Procedures and industry best practice.

The DCOE will carry out Data Center works as directed, these works could be project based or tasks received via incident management or workflow management tools. In all cases the DCOE will ensure that Change Control rules are followed and support documentation is appropriate and correct.

The role is will also be responsible for carrying out daily checks in their areas of responsibility, ensuring security is maintained, managing third parties and ensuring all work activity is captured and updates entered into the Data Center management tool, or into the workflow management/incident management tool, Service Now.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, relocation and recovery of Network, Server and Storage hardware to manufacturer standards and industry best practice.
  • Repair of hardware to major component level (e.g. hard disk, NIC card, memory) across a broad range of vendor equipment.
  • Execution of all work to Data Center work process & procedure.
  • Manage the goods in/out process for your dedicated storage facility and keep full records as directed for all incoming/outgoing assets and a full availability list of all items in storage.
  • Receipt of damaged/failed hardware internally and replacement through Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) process
  • Carry out monthly audits of items in store and produce a report of all anomalies
  • Manage asset record updates, tracking and placing assets as to their location and status (deployed, ceased etc).
  • Ensure that all records are updated following any installations, moves or changes
  • Carry out daily housekeeping checks of the data halls and record their findings
  • Control Data Center stocks (copper/fibre patch leads, patch panels, connectors etc.) and report appropriately.
  • To provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns to support and maintain OLA’s & SLA’s

Knowledge and Experience

  • Pro-active and flexible with ability to work either as part of a team or as an individual
