Job Description

Working under the guidance of Principal Engineers, Architects, and Lead System Designers, the Lead Electrical Engineer will help to create and own the next-generation system architecture. Work will involve all engineering disciplines in the system, but a special focus on the following is desired.

  • Design and support electrical subsystems including power electronics, analog/digital boards, and sub-components for mobile X-ray systems

  • Lead schematic capture, layout review, and design validation for new or updated designs

  • Coordinate and contribute to resolution of manufacturing and field issues through root cause analysis and electrical troubleshooting

  • Support product reliability improvements and cost-reduction efforts across the lifecycle

  • Execute redesigns driven by obsolescence or supplier changes, including technical assessments, testing, and documentation

  • Lead or support Supplier Change Requests (SCRs) and qualification of alternate parts or components

  • Drive technical design reviews, verification planning, and documentation aligned with quality systems (ISO 13485, IEC 60601)

  • Serve as a key technical interface across electrical, mechanical, firmware, systems, and quality teams

This includes prototyping, risk retirement, design reviews, code reviews, reliability testing, creating requirements and verification plans, design documentation, manufacturing implementation, and field support. The engineer should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams, have solid technical communication skills, and a strong commitment to product safety, quality, and reliability.

The primary focus will be Firmware, however there will be many opportunities to participate in any of the electrical engineering disciplines that make up the C-arm. The scope of design ranges from low voltage mixed signal circuits to line voltage AC circuits to 60kV for x-ray generation

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 5 years firmware work experience
  • 3 years electrical hardware work experience (in parallel with FW experience is acceptable)

  • Learn and participate in design of the power system capable of running an X-ray Generator. Design components up to 300V in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Learn the physics behind X-ray generation and the basics of high voltage generators. Contribute to design changes and support of components associated with the high voltage generator.
  • Understand the tradeoffs that different design decisions can have on electro-magnetic immunity and compliance. Become familiar with the IEC safety standards for medical X-ray devices as they pertain to electrical components Use these skills when designing and selecting components to achieve a compliant system.
