Job Description

Essential responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design of parts and assemblies derived from specifications (as well as writing specifications), as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This refers to newly designed parts and integratingoff-the-shelf itemsusing 3D CREO CAD design package. Presenting the design in technical design reviews at the levels of concept and detail design is a part of this position,
  • Developing creative design solutions in response to the product requirements of functionality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, etc.,
  • Support of company products at hospital and customer sites via the Service Teams as needed,
  • Building safety files for products, including strength calculations, failure modes analysis (FMEA), compliance with safety and medical industrial standards as well as internal GE standards,
  • Supporting transfer to production, defining basic assembly and service instructions, working with parts suppliers,
  • Defining verification and validation test procedure, tests execution and report writing.

Essential qualifications /requirements:

  • : 1st degree in mechanical engineering, Technion preferred,
  • Fluent English at presentation level in technical design reviews, Zoom/Teams calls and in writing.
  • Mandatory: Good personal, teamwork and communication skills, enthusiasm from study, self-motivated, results oriented,
  • Work experience of 3 years in mechanical design, with experience in at least 2 of the following: design of large welded or cast structures and frames, large sculptured FRP covers, mechanisms,motion systems,electronic packaging, electrical design support (DXF, cables routing),
  • Experience in machining and sheet metal technologies,
  • Experience in prototype building (hands on), testing execution per test plan and failures troubleshooting

Desired Characteristics by priority:

  • Leading tasks from requirements to engineering change finalization,
  • System level understanding in multi-disciplinary project environment,
  • Definition of testing and report writing,
  • Experience in design for cost, reliability, serviceability and for manufacturability.
  • Ability to perform finite-element analysis and Excel level technical calculations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review new mechanical systems and components focusing on Safety elements.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations related to mechanical failures, performance issues, and design improvements.
  • Perform detailed analysis and simulations of suspended mass systems to ensure stability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Provide independent reviews of mechanical design for the MI and other business units, such as the CT BU.
  • Develop and maintain high quality processes for design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and test plans.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and suspended mass analysis technologies.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical design, FEA, Tolerance analysis, GD&T and motion control mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience and deep understanding in XFMEA’s and failure investigations.
  • Proven expertise in suspended mass of dynamic and rotational systems.
  • Experience in thermal analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
