EH&S Managerlocated inAustin, TX.

Reporting to theEH&S Managerthewill be In charge of providing immediate supervision to a group of employees for the implementation of complex activities related to the efficient management of Environmental Health & Safety programs in offices and manufacturing sites in order to ensure that the required company and government standards and regulations are met.


What a typical day looks like:

  • Manage, through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs in offices, manufacturing sites, and plants with control results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.

  • Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

  • Conduct meetings involving environmental safety, training and awareness programs.

  • Oversee proper maintenance of buildings, furniture and fixtures in accordance to federal, state and local regulations.

  • Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance and act as advisor to unit, or sub-units and get involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems.

  • Establish and recommend changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s).

  • Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers.

  • Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.

  • Manage budget and schedule for moderately complex EH&S activities, including costs of contract labor, equipment and materials.

  • Train staff on any changes to policy and procedures.

  • Implement appropriate HR Strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team,

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.

  • +7 years of related experience in EH&S or related position.

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word.)

  • Documentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively with others.

  • Supervisor previous experience

  • Previous experience in the manufacturing industry.

  • Safety Certifications.

  • Specific program experience i.e. Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Machine Safety, Risk Assessments (JHA, JSA, RA), Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness, Ergonomics, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and Arial Work Platforms (AWP), Hearing Conservation, Working at Heights, Incident Analysis (Fishbone, 5-Why)

  • ISO14001, 45001

What a typical day looks like:

  • Manage appropriate staffing and inventory levels.
  • Oversee the assembly operations to meet corporate KOI.
  • Supervise production staff on work method and quality checkpoints.
  • Coordinate with other departments and other Flex sites to drive for excellence.
  • Coordinate efforts of operations team by establishing procurement, production and engineering services policies and practices.
  • Ensure ISO and safety standards are adhered to.
  • Report to Senior Management team in weekly operations reviews.
  • Coach and mentor Operations team.
  • Leverage industry practices and apply to internal systems and processes.
  • Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
  • A Master’s or MBA degree is preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of operations experience, including supervision.

  • Interface with customers on technical/quality issues and improvement initiatives.
  • In charge of managing customer audits andregulatory/complianceagency audits.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Visits and confers with representatives of material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders and vendor quality standards.
  • Confers with engineers about quality assurance of new products designed and manufactured products on market to rectify problems.
  • Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry.

  • Typically requires 6 years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems or related area.
  • Previous leadership and manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a medical device regulated environment
  • ISO13485 and FDA regulations experience

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s deg
ree in business management, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.

A minimum of 7+ years of experience in one or more disciplines of supply chain management and operations related to plastic assemblies or commodities. Such disciplines to include commodity management, sourcing, initial purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, assembly & test, logistics or other related area.

Demonstrated understanding of effective supply chain management in a manufacturing environment (preferably in mechanical manufacturing).

Demonstrated success in supplier relationship management. This experience must include experience in interacting with external suppliers on a direct “person to person” basis.

Demonstrated leadership skills

Demonstrated negotiation skillsin Commercial Terms and Conditions such as Payment Terms, Supplier Managed Inventory, Non-Recurring Expenses (Tooling), Pricing Reviews, etc.

Ability to influence and successfully lead in a fast-paced, matrix-reporting, multi-cultural environment.
