Your key responsibilities

Our core work is focused on financial services regulatory compliance in all sectors mainly Banking (credit and financial institutions), Insurance and Wealth & Asset Management.

You will have a key role in:

• Executing project work
• Writing reports that set out our findings and recommendations
• Performing industry and company research

• Building client relationships
• Supporting with client proposals and pitches
• Work with other EY service teams, both locally and globally

What are we looking for?

• Banking and finance, chartered / certified accountant, or financial services qualification from a reputable professional or tertiary education institution (at least MQF Level 6 or higher)
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

• At least 2 years of relevant experience working, ideally in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

• Leading the day to day delivery on client engagement projects to maintain quality and our promise for exceptional service delivery to all our clients;
• Preparation of high-quality client deliverables including (but not limited to) technical accounting analysis papers, IFRSs compliant financial statements, project reports, special purpose financial information, accounting policies documentation;
• Leading consultations and research in line with agreed engagement execution plans to support deliverables to our clients;
• Presentation of the work results to senior team members or clients in a clear and concise manner;
• Client management and liaison with senior client stakeholders with a view to build strong working relationships with our clients;
• Managing performance of junior team members through on the job coaching, mentoring and providing constructive and timely performance feedback;
• Liaison with other EY teams and Service lines, if necessary, to ensure seamless solutions to our clients.

Qualifications and Experience

• Accountancy qualified (ACCA or equivalent);
• A minimum of 7 years post qualified experience;
• Deep understanding of IFRS including experience in the implementation of IFRS 9, 15 and 16;
• Proven ability to work on complex accounting issues and ability to clearly articulate the advice in written technical accounting papers;
• Experience in leading the planning, execution and reporting on engagements.
• Previous experience at Senior Manager level is considered an asset.

• Candidates who are warranted accountants, auditors, or certified internal auditors (CIA) will be considered an asset to our team, bringing valuable credentials that can further enhance our service delivery.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in an advisory or internal audit role.
• Experience in leading and delivering internal audit, performance improvement and / or BPR projects.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills.

You will have responsibility for helping to develop the recommendations that will ultimately be implemented by our clients.

You will also get involved in key strategic initiatives and play an important role in supporting the build out of the business in Malta.

To qualify for the role, you must:

• Have at least two years’ experience in strategy consulting, business advisory, corporate finance or a commercial role in industry (financial services, gaming, ecommerce, tech, telecoms, health and life sciences preferred). Public policy backgrounds will also be considered.
• Be educated to Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent; Master’s/MBA qualification would be considered an asset
• Have experience managing projects and teams
• Have both quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
• Be a strong communicator, able to engage effectively with both clients and team members
• Possess a desire and ability to solve complex and open-ended client problems
• Be able to write well and concisely, expressing what really matters
