Description:

What You Will Be Doing

You’ll bring deep hands-on expertise in designing, deploying, and optimizing search platforms—ranging from traditional Elasticsearch-based Enterprise Search to modern semantic and vector search architectures (e.g., embeddings, RAG, hybrid search systems). You should be comfortable operating in cloud-native environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), implementing robust indexing pipelines, tuning search relevance, and scaling for performance and cost-efficiency.

  • Architect and implement advanced Enterprise Search , Vector Search , and Semantic/RAG systems for large-scale deployments.

  • Lead the full customer lifecycle: onboarding, proof-of-concept (POC), rollout, adoption, escalation, and expansion.
  • Design RAG and semantic search workflows using embedding models (LLM, ELSER, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.).
  • Optimize search relevance and performance: tuning indices, scaling clusters, running vectors, and conducting A/B tests.
  • Partner with Sales, Pre‑Sales, Services, and Support to align technical strategy and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor usage, diagnose adoption gaps, and proactively propose expansions and upsells aligned with ARR goals.

What You Bring

  • 8–12+ years building and operating enterprise search systems , including vector and semantic search.
  • Strong experience with Elastic or similar platforms: Elasticsearch, Pinecone, Qdrant, Milvus, Weaviate.
  • Authority in embedding‑based retrieval, LLM integration, RAG pipelines, and vector database architecture.
  • Consistent track record of designing scalable, performant search infrastructure on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Excellent communicator able to present technical designs and business impact to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Data-driven mentality: adept at measuring search performance (e.g., latency, throughput, recall) and acting on insights.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Previous roles in Solution Architecture, Pre‑Sales Engineering, or Customer Success focused on search/AI applications.

Bonus Points

  • Hands-on experience with RAG systems , chat/search applications, and open-source contributions.
  • Understanding of vector database internals: ANN algorithms, indexing strategies, recall/precision evaluation.
  • Familiarity with embedding model tuning and search relevance optimization frameworks.

Own the Vision & Strategy: Define and evangelize the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our entire OpenTelemetry instrumentation experience, ensuring it aligns with our broader observability goals and the...
Description:

What is The Role

As the Principal Product Manager for OpenTelemetry Instrumentation, you will lead the most fundamental part of our customer's journey: the first mile. You will be responsible for crafting a world-class developer experience for instrumenting applications, services, and infrastructure using OpenTelemetry. Your role is to make data collection so seamless that it feels like magic, enabling our customers to unlock the full power of our observability platform.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Own the Vision & Strategy: Define and evangelize the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our entire OpenTelemetry instrumentation experience, ensuring it aligns with our broader observability goals and the evolving OTel landscape.
  • Champion the Developer: Live in the shoes of our users. Engage deeply with developers, SREs, and platform engineers through interviews, community channels, and analytics to understand their struggles and build solutions they love.
  • Lead in the Open: Be an active and influential member of the OpenTelemetry community. Participate in SIGs (Special Interest Groups), contribute to specifications, and build relationships to ensure our platform is the best place to send OTel data.
  • Drive Execution: Work hand-in-hand with our brilliant engineering, design, and developer relations teams to translate user needs into clear requirements, scope compelling features, and drive them from inception to a successful launch.
  • Define Success: Establish and analyze Key Performance Indicators focused on instrumentation adoption, time-to-value, ease-of-use, and data quality to ensure your product is delivering real impact.
  • Enable the Ecosystem: Collaborate with marketing, sales, and solution architects to craft differentiated messaging and technical content that clearly articulates the value of using OpenTelemetry with our platform.
  • Be the Expert: Serve as the internal and external spokesperson for our OpenTelemetry Instrumentation strategy, presenting at conferences, webinars, and customer meetings.

What You Bring

  • An OTel Enthusiast: You are passionate about OpenTelemetry and a true believer in open standards. You don't just know what OTel is; you've used it, you understand its components (APIs, SDKs, Collector, OTLP), and you have strong opinions about its future.
  • A Technical Product Leader: You have 3+ years of product management experience, ideally with a highly technical, API-driven, or developer-focused product. You are comfortable diving deep into architecture diagrams and code samples with engineers.
  • A Former Practitioner (or have the approach): You have hands-on experience in the observability world. Maybe you were an SRE, a DevOps Engineer, a Software Developer, or a Solutions Architect who spent years instrumenting and monitoring complex, distributed systems.
  • Customer-Obsessed: You think in terms of user journeys and experiences, not just features. You have a consistent track record of turning customer insights into a successful product roadmap.
  • An Outstanding Communicator: You can effortlessly shift from a high-level strategic discussion with executives to a deeply technical debate with engineers. Your written communication is clear, concise, and compelling.
  • A Community-Minded Collaborator: You thrive with working with cross-functional teams and understand the nuances of contributing to and working with open-source communities.

Bonus Points

  • You have experience contributing directly to an open-source project (especially OpenTelemetry) or have deep familiarity with the Elastic Stack, Datadog, or other major observability vendors.

We strive to have parity of benefits across regions, and while regulations differ from place to place, we believe taking care of our people is the right thing to do.

Lead initiatives within to produce an industry-leading vector database offering, supplying unparalleled speed and relevance in search. Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing intriguing bugs,...
Description:

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead initiatives within to produce an industry-leading vector database offering, supplying unparalleled speed and relevance in search.
  • Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing intriguing bugs, all while making the code easier to understand. Sometimes you'll need to invent a new algorithm or data structure. Or find one and implement it. Sometimes you'll need to get close to the operating system and hardware.
  • Work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers focused on the vector search capabilities of Elasticsearch.
  • Be an expert on how Elasticsearch implements vector similarity in support of search relevance and everyone will turn to you when they have a question about this area. You'll improve this area based on your questions and your instincts.
  • Work with community members from all over the world on issues and pull requests, sometimes triaging them and handing them off to other experts and sometimes handling them yourself.
  • Write idiomatic modern Java -- Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java!

What You Bring

  • You have implemented novel techniques in vector similarity on a search platform with a large user base or progressed the field of academic research in vector similarity information retrieval.
  • Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases, and you used HNSW, IVF, or other relevant algorithms and libraries on search platforms at scale.
  • You have strong skills in core Java and are conversant in the standard library of data structures and concurrency constructs, as well as other features like lambdas.
  • You work with a high level of autonomy, and are able to take on projects and guide them from beginning to end. This covers both technical design and working with other engineers to develop needed components.
  • You're comfortable developing collaboratively. Giving and receiving feedback on code and approaches and APIs is hard! Bonus points if you've collaborated over the internet because that's harder. Double bonus points for asynchronous collaboration over the internet. That's even harder, but we do it anyway because it's the best way we know how to build software.
  • You've used several data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra and have some idea how they work and why they work that way.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Like we said, collaborating on the internet is hard. We try to be respectful, empathetic, and trusting in all of our interactions. And we'd expect that from you too.

Bonus Points

  • You've built things with Elasticsearch before.
  • You've worked with open source projects and are familiar with different styles of source control workflow and continuous integration.
  • Experience with data storage technology.
  • You have experience designing, leading and owning cross-functional initiatives

We strive to have parity of benefits across regions, and while regulations differ from place to place, we believe taking care of our people is the right thing to do.

  • Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary

  • Architect and implement advanced Enterprise Search , Vector Search , and Semantic/RAG systems for large-scale deployments.
  • Develop and implement Technical Success Plans tailored to each customer, covering indexing pipelines, query relevance (e.g., recall@k, latency), vector similarity performance, and adoption metrics.
  • Lead the full customer lifecycle: onboarding, proof-of-concept (POC), rollout, adoption, escalation, and expansion.
  • Design RAG and semantic search workflows using embedding models (LLM, ELSER, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.).
  • Optimize search relevance and performance: tuning indices, scaling clusters, running vectors, and conducting A/B tests.
  • Partner with Sales, Pre‑Sales, Services, and Support to align technical strategy and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor usage, diagnose adoption gaps, and proactively propose expansions and upsells aligned with ARR goals.

What You Bring

  • 8–12+ years building and operating enterprise search systems , including vector and semantic search.
  • Strong experience with Elastic or similar platforms: Elasticsearch, Pinecone, Qdrant, Milvus, Weaviate.
  • Authority in embedding‑based retrieval, LLM integration, RAG pipelines, and vector database architecture.
  • Consistent track record of designing scalable, performant search infrastructure on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Excellent communicator able to present technical designs and business impact to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Data-driven mentality: adept at measuring search performance (e.g., latency, throughput, recall) and acting on insights.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Previous roles in Solution Architecture, Pre‑Sales Engineering, or Customer Success focused on search/AI applications.

Bonus Points

  • Hands-on experience with RAG systems , chat/search applications, and open-source contributions.
  • Understanding of vector database internals: ANN algorithms, indexing strategies, recall/precision evaluation.
  • Familiarity with embedding model tuning and search relevance optimization frameworks.
