Your Impact
You will play a pivotal role in the testing and advancement of our innovative network controller software. Your technical expertise will contribute to the ongoing evolution of our intent-based networking solutions, ensuring they meet the complex and dynamic needs of modern networks. Additional job responsibilities for this Technical Leader are listed below.
  • Support the design, development and validation of new features for Cisco's DCN software.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate network control, automation, and analytics capabilities into the product.
  • Contribute to the architecture and design discussions, advocating for quality to be inbuilt for customer success.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and reusable automation code that aligns with Cisco's standards. Implement robust automated testing strategies to ensure the reliability and performance of the ACI software.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in SDN, network automation, and cloud computing to inform product development.
  • Resolve technical issues in collaboration with the development, support and operations teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master’s in STEM with 7+ years of relevant experience or PhD in STEM with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience using Python
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience working with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, with a focus on troubleshooting, configuration, and optimization as well as experience with networking protocols such as VXLAN and VLAN, OSPF or BGP
  • Experience managing test automation infrastructure and test automation sanity suites as well as debugging and root cause analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiar with Networking technologies and concepts
  • Experience with requirements analysis, test strategy, planning and testbed design
  • Scripting experience (Python, Perl, TCL, shell programming)
  • Experience with formal verification tools
  • Experience with emulation

As a Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest problem solvers and thinkers in the Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) Team that work on next generation of datacenter and cloud switches.

  • You will play a pivotal role in the development and advancement of Cisco's cutting-edge network controller software. This software is used by thousands of Cisco customers.
  • Work on our backend systems software that will impact the complex and dynamic needs of modern networks.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop and build new solutions along with maintaining products that are in production with our customers.
  • Contribute to architecture and design discussions by advocating for scalable and maintainable codebases while developing and maintaining high-quality, efficient, and reusable code that aligns with Cisco's standards and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years of experience working as a Software Engineer with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Systems Software Development.
  • Programming experience with C++ or C.
  • Experience with Linux/Linux internals, OS/system/kernel, file systems and Linux performance/scale.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to review customer feedback and innovate on new feature builds to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Experience with Open SSH, Open SSL and FIPs a plus
  • Design, build, and debug large scale infrastructure services and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with network controller software.
  • Implement Kernel debugging, and work with kernel APIs and subsystems.
  • Exposure to Secure Development Life cycle, Vulnerability and CVE assessment and mitigation and threat-modelling.
