The role is an analytical and strategic resource within the Special Assets Group (SAG), supporting SAG Senior Portfolio Officers (POs) in managing criticized/classified commercial loan portfolio. This includes structuring and underwriting of credit facilities, providing financial and collateral analysis, drafting credit approvals, asset quality forecasting, monitoring covenant compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support to SAG POs in developing and executing loan workout, restructuring, and recovery strategies
  • Prepare credit approval packages, risk rating analyses, asset quality forecasts, and restructuring recommendations
  • Monitor covenant compliance, borrower performance, and collateral adequacy
  • Participate in client meetings, negotiations (as appropriate), and strategy sessions with internal/external stakeholders
  • Contribute to regulatory reporting, internal audits, and governance processes
  • Participate in strategic projects to support business goals
  • Build strong partnerships with internal partners, including Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Legal, Risk, and Finance
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the product spectrum and portfolio at the client, industry, and macro level to assess risk and craft value added solutions

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in commercial workout, credit risk management, or commercial loan underwriting related experience
  • Knowledge of commercial loan structures, corporate finance, and financial statement analysis
  • Familiarity with syndicated and agented loan structures, including multi-lender negotiations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive materials for senior audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in Corporate Workout, Leveraged Finance, Structured Credit, Distressed Debt Advisory, or a Restructuring team (bank, advisory, or buy-side)
  • Experience with collateral valuation, liquidation analysis, and capital markets transactions related to distressed assets
  • Proactive self-starter, motivated and with an aptitude to learn quickly under pressure in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage within tight deadlines

Partnering with the GVF Credit Underwriters, the individual will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end credit management process. Responsibilities include data verification of new/existing deals on source systems; posting of documents to electronic credit file; spreading financials; gathering underwriting information and completing basic underwriting, maintaining internal files and ensuring systems and data integrity. The ability to efficiently multi-task and be decisive are important keys to success. Part of responsibilities may include interpreting/analyzing financial statements and documentation in one of the major European languages (i.e. German, French, Spanish or Italian).

• Undergraduate business degree desired (accounting and finance)

Position Overview

Principle responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the senior bankers in identifying, analysing and securing new target clients where TD can develop a profitable business relationship, on a risk adjusted basis

  • Liaising with Credit Management to ensure that key risks on corporate transactions are identified, evaluated, and documented in an accurate and timely manner
  • Responsibility for ensuring the deal process is adhered to for transactions, including but not limited to ensuring KYC and AML are in place for all new transactions and updated in line with policy
  • Actively contribute to the business planning and strategic development of TD’s European Corporate Banking team
  • Prepare and assist with the provision of management reports and presentations required on a regular and an ad hoc basis
  • Demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices

Qualifications:

  • Some background of relevant experience in an investment banking or corporate banking graduate program, relationship coverage team, or a relevant product team is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's/Universitydegree or equivalent - studying towards CFA, ACT or an accounting designation is considered an asset.
  • Sound understanding of credit and wholesale banking products. Experience with Large/Global Corporate clients and lending/capital markets products desirable.
  • Strong planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business and financial analytical skills.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office applications(Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to business goals and high professional standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments.

Description:

The role is an analytical and strategic resource within the Special Assets Group (SAG), supporting SAG Senior Portfolio Officers (POs) in managing criticized/classified commercial loan portfolio. This includes structuring and underwriting of credit facilities, providing financial and collateral analysis, drafting credit approvals, asset quality forecasting, monitoring covenant compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support to SAG POs in developing and executing loan workout, restructuring, and recovery strategies
  • Prepare credit approval packages, risk rating analyses, asset quality forecasts, and restructuring recommendations
  • Monitor covenant compliance, borrower performance, and collateral adequacy
  • Participate in client meetings, negotiations (as appropriate), and strategy sessions with internal/external stakeholders
  • Contribute to regulatory reporting, internal audits, and governance processes
  • Participate in strategic projects to support business goals
  • Build strong partnerships with internal partners, including Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Legal, Risk, and Finance
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the product spectrum and portfolio at the client, industry, and macro level to assess risk and craft value added solutions

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in commercial workout, credit risk management, or commercial loan underwriting related experience
  • Knowledge of commercial loan structures, corporate finance, and financial statement analysis
  • Familiarity with syndicated and agented loan structures, including multi-lender negotiations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive materials for senior audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in Corporate Workout, Leveraged Finance, Structured Credit, Distressed Debt Advisory, or a Restructuring team (bank, advisory, or buy-side)
  • Experience with collateral valuation, liquidation analysis, and capital markets transactions related to distressed assets
  • Proactive self-starter, motivated and with an aptitude to learn quickly under pressure in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage within tight deadlines
