Responsibilities:
  • Engage with technical leads, product managers and SoC development teams to translate technology requirements into platform architectures
  • Work proactively across Arm’s architecture and core technology groups, taking ownership over the full product lifecycle
  • Evaluate different architecture proposals and features and coordinate across SoC, hardware, software and platforms to align all parties to a common vision, supporting the needs of Arm based embedded device SoCs
  • Be central to the involvement in new and different activities at different times as needed, as we are involved in a broad cross-section of engineering across the project lifecycle
  • Create high level architecture specifications to enable engineering teams to craft and verify platforms addressing the embedded device, compute and IoT market segments
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and credibly across audiences ranging from individual hardware and software engineers to architecture peers and technology leads
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Deep technical background and solid understanding of SoC architectures involving embedded compute, CPUs, IoT space, AI or related work experience
  • Experience with various high-speed IO interface standards (e.g. PCIe and DDR) and peripherals for embedded storage and compute
  • Competence with embedded system board design, designing with complex LSI devices such as FPGAs and embedded firmware
  • Ability to drive progress in an ambiguous environment with evolving needs
  • Ability to work optimally in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams. Collaborative and influential across organizations and geographies
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
  • Fundamental understanding of compute architectures and functional building blocks
  • Experience working within the semi-conductor industry

  • Strong understanding of electronics and embedded compute systems.
  • Familiarity with different IC packaging technologies and their impact on PCB design to ensure seamless integration of SoCs, ensuring proper signal routing and power delivery.
  • Experience of collaborating with chip packaging teams. Ability to influence and drive SoC device pin-outs for cost optimization, routing feasibility and layer trade-off analysis.
  • Detailed knowledge of high-speed design and interface standards (e.g. PCIe and DDR memory technologies). You'll analyze and optimize signal paths to ensure signal quality, minimize noise, and prevent signal degradation, especially at high speeds.
  • Expertise in escape routing analysis of high density SoC's and able to provide estimates of the IO count that can be routed with a particular stack-up and design rule set.
  • Extensive knowledge of Signal and Power Integrity analysis techniques from both board design and chip packaging perspectives.
  • Understanding of the PCB fabrication process (PTH and HDI), stackup/VIA topologies and substrate materials. Ability to collaborate with PCB fabricators and CEMs.
  • Proficiency in the use of EDA tools, specifically Cadence Allegro PCB suite and OrCAD CIS.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Positive can-do attitude and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills and Qualities

The following skills are not essential, but experience in any of the following areas would enhance the application:

  • Experience in using Signal Integrity tools from ANSYS, Siemens EDA etc.
  • Experience of design automation and scripting.

  • As a creative design engineer with a knowledge of subsystems and SoCs, you will be part of a team developing logic for our state of art solutions.
  • You will work in conjunction with the design team to understand and review the SoC architecture and develop the design specifications that meet leading multifaceted power/performance goals. Your key responsibilities will include crafting design micro-architecture specifications, developing the RTL, fixing bugs, running design checks, and contributing to the generation of implementation constraints.
  • You will also work closely with the verification team to review test plans and help debug design issues and with the performance/power analysis teams to evaluate and improve SoC performance/power.
  • As part of the design team you will contribute to developing and enhancing the design methodologies used by the team.
  • You will mentor and empower team members, fostering collaboration to ensure the successful completion of project activities
  • You will balance other opportunities such as working with Project Management on plans and schedules
Required Skills & Experience :

In addition to bringing your accomplishment of either Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering or a similar related field and 15+ years of experience working in design of sophisticated compute subsystems or SoCs, you'll need:

  • Experience in digital hardware design for intricate systems using Verilog HDL.
  • Experience with power and clock domain crossing and with static design checks like linting, CDC/RDC, X-propagation
  • Exposure to all stages of design: initial concept, specification, implementation, power and performance analysis, power optimization, testing, documentation and support
  • Experience collaborating w/ our verification team on design quality closure
  • Experience with Perl, Python or other scripting language
  • Leadership, mentoring or coaching experience
"Nice to Have" Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with ARM-based designs and/or ARM System Architectures
  • Experience with SystemVerilog and verification methodologies – UVM/OVM/e
  • Experience leading teams or projects
  • Experience or knowledge in synthesis and timing analysis, power management techniques
  • Experience developing and integrating subsystems for PCIe, UCIe, DDR/LPDDR/HBM, Ethernet etc.
