Key job responsibilities
- You will manage the development of project plans and technical solutions which may not be defined, including problem statement and resource requirements definition.
- You will influence decisions on deployment and machine performance execution strategy to senior level leadership.
- You will own the tactical planning on the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact across the functions of schedule, scope, cost and product performance. Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of a business objective, and includes the management of contractors and vendors.
- You will own the strategy of your program/product for annual planning of resources and budget, defining deployment plans of record and continuous improvement goals. This includes setting standards, driving mechanisms and delivering efficiencies across both deployment execution and machine performance, based on your own observations and the voice of the customer.
- You will own communication of program execution and performance both verbally and in writing, consolidating inputs across multiple internal cross-functional business teams.
- This is a travel-based role and you will be expected to travel to meet the requirements of your projects across North America, upwards of 75% or more.
A day in the life
In this role you will be focused on two primary lines of effort. The first is deployment project management, and the second is product ramp up support. On a daily basis you will be expected to collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program and product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams, to ensure the product you are deploying, is both ready for deployment and capable of achieving the business requirements. You will travel to your project sites, collaborate both virtually and in person, to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
- Bachelor's degree
- • 2+ years of experience of infrastructure projects of new site or existing site deployment and ramp from initiation to closure.
- • 1+ years of program leadership experience.
- • Experience managing project portfolios, budgets and decentralized resources to execute project goals.
- • Experience working in a global environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.
- • Ability to travel frequently both within country up to 75% and occasional internationally (~5%).
- • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
- • Experience interpreting mechanical, electrical diagrams and controls logic.
- • Experience with procurement of equipment.
- • Experience in Robotics, Automation, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or other warehouse environments.
- • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- • Experience leading cross-functional teams/projects.
- • Knowledge of Project management tools ( PPM, Clarity, MPP or Jira)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working with and managing third party vendors

- • MBA/MS degree in Engineering or related STEM field. MS/MBA in Business or Supply Chain with 10+ years of additional technical experience.
- • 10+ years of experience with technical project portfolio management.
- • PMP Certification
- • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- • Understanding of Robotic, Automation, Construction, IT, MHE infrastructure and service concepts.
- • Site deployment and ramp experience packaging and robotics automation in retail, distribution, logistics or similar.
- • Large scale Technical project implementation experience.
- • Experience working with Global (distributed, virtual) teams preferred.

As an SysDev in DCIE, you’ll begin your day reviewing infrastructure telemetry dashboards and overnight logs to identify anomalies or performance degradations across Amazon Fulfillment Centers. You’ll then sync with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and DCIE Engineers to prioritize active workstreams, whether it’s scaling power monitoring pipelines, deploying automation for HVAC lifecycle tracking, or integrating new telemetry sources into the DCIM platform. Midday, you’ll be coding—whether building out RESTful APIs, refining predictive maintenance models, or developing automation scripts for infrastructure deployment. You’ll participate in design reviews, contribute to PIRs, and resolve automation or telemetry-related blockers raised by on-call engineers. Your day ends with sprint planning or roadmap check-ins, driving progress on scalable, self-healing infrastructure systems that improve uptime, efficiency, and global visibility for thousands of Amazon sites.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
