Key job responsibilities
• Support implementation and maintenance of import and export compliance procedures in accordance with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements
• Assist with classification of hardware, software, and technical data under the U.S. Munitions List (USML), Commerce Control List (CCL), and Harmonized System (HS)
• Review, track, and manage export/import requests and tickets
• Prepare and submit license applications or confirm applicability of license exceptions
• Monitor export authorizations to ensure compliance with approved terms, including value limits, quantities, conditions, and expiration dates
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal logistics teams to support accurate and timely import and export filings, and assist in resolving any customs or export clearance issues
• Maintain accurate compliance records and assist with data entry and system updates in SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) and other compliance systems
• Assist in developing and maintaining key performance metrics and compliance reports to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Contribute to trade compliance awareness initiatives by preparing training materials and supporting communication of regulatory requirements across the organization.Security clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in business, political science, international studies, supply chain management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant work experience
- 2 + years of experience in export/import compliance, logistics, or supply chain
- Foundational understanding of U.S. export/import regulations including the EAR, ITAR and CBP requirements
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

- Prior work experience supporting trade compliance, logistics, or supply chain operations in the aerospace, defense, or high-technology industries
- Working knowledge of EAR, ITAR, and CBP regulations, including familiarity with export licensing and jurisdiction/classification processes
- Experience using SAP GTS or other global trade management systems
- Experience with government systems such as SNAP-R, DECCS, or ACE for license applications and shipment reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential compliance risks and escalate appropriately
- A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory, learning new concepts, and pushing your comfort zone
- Certified Export Compliance Professional or similar trade compliance certification

• Develop and implement compliance Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies in alignment with business goals. Deliverables and goals focus on enabling licensing, launch timelines, and product expansion across global entities.
• Responsible for producing all service compliance obligation deliverables required to meet compliance obligations for Kuiper as a communications service provider enabling current and future business product offerings and customer strategies.
• Ensure an “audit-ready” mentality for all processes and procedures in preparation for any review that may be requested by regulators.
A day in the life
• Develop and optimize mechanisms to manage scheduling and capacity across your team and related support functions. Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of complex reporting and financial calculations using large data sets from a variety of data sources.
• Align directly with Finance, Legal, Accounting, and Tax (FLAT) on reporting matters including detailed line-item mapping to General Ledger (GL)/Sub-GL data.
• Implement and improve operational processes to ensure timely and accurate payments supporting various payment types, bank accounts, legal entity structures and approvals.
• Coordinate across Kuiper entities, and across Amazon addressing the unique nature of Kuiper operating as a global Communications Service Provider.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
- Experience working with regulatory assessments, financial reporting, or audit experience, responsible for complex compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting go to market strategies, international expansions, or new product compliance.
