You'll maximize customers' value in Akamai with program management, strategic thinking, technical acumen, pre-sales, and thought leadership. You will move our customers' key initiatives from concept to implementation, solving problems and delivering exceptional satisfaction.

As an Engagement Manager II, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning program management and being the trusted advisor that helps customers get the most value out of solutions.
  • Architecting and managing the web performance, cloud computing and security solutions.
  • Defining an account strategy, establishing key relationships, and building and maintaining a project pipeline.
  • Leading a cross functional team and developing a culture of excellence to empower and encourage team synergy.
  • Partnering with sales and pre-sales to help expand the use of services and solutions.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate experience in a customer-facing role and an understanding of the consulting process to ensure customer success
  • Have experience managing and delivering large technical customer projects successfully
  • Be knowledgeable on Devops, web development, web performance such as HTTPS, DNS
  • Have familiarity with security technologies, with basic knowledge of methods used to protect data, applications, and infrastructure
  • Be familiar with compute technologies, with basic knowledge and skills to design, implement, and manage cloud-based systems
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills and articulate technical information in an easy to understand manner
  • Be a team player with an ability to work independently and as part of a remote team

  • Leading and developing a team of engineers who build and maintain Akamai's global backbone, ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Working with vendors and internal organizations to build out large points of presence across the globe; installing, configuring, and maintaining Juniper and Cisco devices
  • Configuring and debugging complex metro topologies and high-capacity circuits
  • Being involved with deep protocol level debugging with our hardware vendors
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on standards, deployment processes, and technology rollouts delivering high reliability
  • Providing 2nd level escalation support to operations teams

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate experience managing one or more network engineering teams, including performance management, career coaching, and mentoring
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with BGP, ISIS, and MPLS with RSVP-TE in a large service provider organization
  • Display solid experience in IP network design and routing architecture
  • Have working knowledge of virtualization, Linux/Unix systems and Python, SQL, or other scripting languages
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to build trusting relationships
