As Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for building the tools and systems to scale regulatory launches worldwide with a focus on operational tooling and API integrations. A Typical Day:

Your expertise:

• BS, MS or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+​ years of relevant engineering work experience and 4+ hands-on technical management experience.
• Strong coding abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
• Experience architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Familiarity with patterns, libraries and frameworks for building and testing services, and service-to-service communication.
• Experience in partnering with other leaders in setting product strategy

This role requires heavy cross-collaboration with teams across other Platform organizations (Payments, Finance, Partnership) and functions (Product Management, Operations, SOX) to inform, validate, track and influence the implementation and maintenance of the payments platform. This team is currently growing, and the scope includes opportunities to build deeper infrastructural services to provide a platform with which we can easily fulfill business requirements, and offer payment services to people anywhere in the world in a compliant, reliable and cost-effective manner.

Core aspects of the role include:

• Setting and communicating strategy and direction of the team to evolve and maintain current payment systems.
• Refining team processes and work divisions to enable effective prioritization, planning, and communication of the team’s sprint commitments
• Building relationships and working rhythms across peers and stakeholders in both India and the US
• Collaborating with organization Staff and Sr. Staff engineers to assist team in aligning architecture trade-offs

• 3-5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, with 9+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters or 6+ years of industry experience with a PhD
• Strong coding abilities and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications.
• Experience architecting, building, and maintaining highly available services in a large service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Familiarity with patterns, libraries and frameworks for building and testing services, and service-to-service communication.
• Expertise proactively managing and communicating dependencies across parallel tracks of work and cross-functional stakeholders
• Demonstrable experience creating expectations, coaching, and mentorship plans for ICs

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Payments Processing team, your mission is to design and build a payments gateway platform that is fast and easy to integrate with, reliable for money movements, smart to route our business cost-effectively, resilient to any external processor downtime in any market, and accurate for Financial reporting. We’re looking for engineers who are independent, thoughtful, creative, and passionate about building the best payment gateway platform.

• Critical to make technical decisions
• Provide technical guidance for engineers and teams
• Advise on architecture and propose solutions to payment problems that span multiple teams and organizations.
• Consult on the performance, scalability, architecture, reliability and engineering best practices of payment gateway systems.

Your Expertise:

• 5-9+ years of industry experience
• Backend or Full-Stack experience in a work-setting or classroom-setting.

• Driving the ‘Customer Centric Payments Observability’ through the Flow level monitoring
• Driving ‘Customer Excellence’ by managing all customer service escalations (incl. potential) for the Payments Engineering teams
• Enhancing the ‘Engineering Productivity’ of the Payments Tech teams through proactive automations and tech-enabled processes

What you’ll do:

• Drive the Flow level observability strategy including instrumentation & operations to enhance the detection & mitigation capabilities
• Drive initiatives independently to fix root-causes identified from the repeat issues observed across monitoring platforms - challenge the status quo and follow through to completion
• Build proactive alerting and real-time monitoring tools to help identify issues early and in-collaboration with Product engineering teams, resolve the issues in a timely manner
• Develop observability standards/ framework for new product readiness to ensure service reliability in SOA and distributed systems
• Build Domain Expertise to achieve Scalability - by understanding the nuances of Payments - across processing, compliance and infra

About You:

• 8+ years of technical experience, with 5+ years of relevant industry experience in a fast paced tech environment
• Experience in building and implementing Observability/ SRE along with expertise in building availability/Reliability tools in a similar environment
• Experience in driving E2E SRE initiatives (L2/L3) and improving observability & reliability, preferably in the payments space
• You have strong working knowledge across observability tools (eg. DataDog, Open Telemetry etc.) & SRE Practices
• Experience in Application and Tool development (Java, .Net, Python) in Microservices environments. Previous experience in AI/ML will be a plus.
• Experience with initiatives across Auto scaling, Self-healing mechanism, Chaos Engineering, Performance optimization techniques will be a plus
• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across timezones
• You are a strong problem solver and have worked in a team that is on-call for production systems before
