Infrastructure Advisory - Major Projects and Construction - Sustainability - Senior - Hong Kong

We are looking for a Senior Consultant, with a focus on sustainability, to join our Infrastructure Advisory (Major Projects and Construction) team. Within the Transactions and Strategy function, the Infrastructure Advisory (Major Projects and Construction) team, provides solutions to some of the biggest and most complex challenges in infrastructure and the wider built-asset environment.

Our Major Projects and Construction advisory work comprises three core areas:

  1. Industry Transformation –advisory primarily to government and public authority bodies regarding modernisation of project and programme delivery.
  2. Project, programme and Portfolio (P3M) advisory – Advising private sector on transforming the way public and private sector projects are delivered.
  3. Digital, data and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Transformation – Advising on digital and technology solutions transforming the construction industry, including carbon data capture and utilization to shape the industry and programmes.

This role will be based in Hong Kong. The successful candidate may be required to travel depending on client need.

Key responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Consultant you will deliver solutions across the life-cycle of public and private infrastructure, and will involve:

  • Working alongside our climate change & sustainability team and digital transformation experts to provide specialist knowledge on the construction and real estate sector focusing on sustainability and green solutions.
  • Advising on sustainable procurement strategies at a project or portfolio level such as fuel usage and material sourcing strategies.
  • Staying up-to-date of the latest developments in, carbon-offsetting, sustainable fuels, carbon capture, climate adaption infrastructure and sustainability regulations in the construction and real estate environment.
  • Engaging with various stakeholders to understand their pain points/ requirements to help provide the best possible solutions to our clients.
  • Offering advice to clients on how to implement process improvements and solutions to achieve improved BEAM/ LEED ratings and the like.
  • Advising government departments on the implementation of sustainability KPIs and metrics against which to assess the performance of companies, projects and buildings.
  • Developing detailed proposals and other Business Development material, as well as partaking in industry events and support development of opinion pieces to ensure EY is at the forefront of the market.
  • Assisting in client engagement tasks, including billing, WIP and other administration

Requirements

We are looking for people with at least four years’ professional work experience. Background in one, or a combination, of the following is preferred:

  • Experience in either delivery or advisory functions in industry, government or consultancy practice (major professional services firms, major consulting practices or specialist boutique firms).
  • Experience of delivering expert project, programme or wider industry transformation.
  • Experience of working in construction, architecture, real estate or for an engineering consultant.

We are looking for people with the following knowledge/ skills:

  • An understanding/ appreciation of the data sets in construction e.g. schedule, cost, HSQE, contract, risk, central finance.
  • An appreciation of the techniques used when assessing the sustainability performance of new construction, refurbishment and fit-out and in-use buildings.
  • Strong skills in the research and implementation of solutions to assist companies or projects in achieving their net-zero goals.
  • Strong report writing, communication and presentational skills
  • Adept at building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and clients
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, curiosity and creative thinking
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in teams
  • Enthusiastic work ethic and willingness to learn and get involved in new areas
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as CEng, CEnv, LEED, WELL is preferred.
  • Business proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese is preferred.
