As a User Experience Researcher, you will play an integral role in understanding user needs and driving product and design decisions. You will be asked to think critically and logically, while also being a creative problem solver. Usability and user experience are at the forefront of research, thus being an active listener and being able to effectively communicate research findings will be keys to success in this role.
Your primary responsibility would involve conducting qualitative and quantitative research to gain insight into the why, who and what of users’ needs. This means measuring user behavior, identifying opportunities for improvement, and optimizing experiences. Being able to offer both short and long term research plans and being able to develop effective research plans that meet the clients’ goals is necessary.
Using various methods such as interviews and surveys, moderated and unmoderated testing, shadowing and analytics, you should be able to gather data to answer research questions. Being able to turn the gathered data into actionable insights and work with product, UX, marketing and engineering teams to ensure the design and development process is incorporating the data and the user’s journey is a key factor.
