Energy markets will be a critical enabler of an efficient energy transition that includes optimization of supply and modernizing underlying technology to support the transition.

Your key responsibilities

As Energy companies explore opportunities to set up and optimize their energy trading function your role will be to enable this journey, undertaking some or all the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting clients with defining their trading technology and data strategy and roadmap
  • Assisting clients with designing target state operating models for trading
  • Assisting with trading-related business transformation initiatives spanning people, process and technology
  • Defining and documenting current and target state trading processes and capabilities across front, middle and back offices (including Trading/Hedging, Logistics, Scheduling, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Settlements and Accounting)
  • Assisting with performing benchmarking initiatives to provide comparative insights to peers and identify emerging technology trends / value creation opportunities
  • Facilitating ETRM system / vendor selection activities
  • Participating in or leading project management activities over system implementations

The purpose of this role is to help position EY for growth within the Energy sector in a rapidly changing market. You will aid in the growth of our energy trading team, author thought leadership material, develop our “Go to Market” strategy, develop sales collateral and solution material to position EY in the market. You will learn about the various competencies and capabilities within EY. You will be a key player in the sales and delivery lifecycle of engagements.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, management information systems, economics, mathematics, finance, or a related field and approximately 8 years of work experience
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience working within the energy trading sector
  • Technical/Functional ETRM and/or other trading system implementation experience
  • Knowledge of energy markets such as oil, refined products, natural gas, LNG, and power
  • Expertise in several functional areas including front, mid or back office
  • Strong understanding of the current solutions in the market and ability to craft a point of view for our clients
  • Ability to liaise across various stakeholder groups, including business, front office, and technical teams
  • Strategic thinking and solutioning skills to craft a strong value proposition
  • Curious mindset and desire to learn and grow
  • Strong project management skills and ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong executive facilitation skills related to strategy development and problem solving
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills on a global basis (including Presentations) as well as listening and interpretation skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%

Ideally you will also have

  • Experience across multiple technology platforms (ION products, SAP Commodity Management, QuorEka, etc.)
  • Experience with solution architecture, data architecture, infrastructure performance and/or cost optimization
  • SQL, Python or similar languages
  • Experience with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform

You will aid in the growth of our energy trading team, author thought leadership material, develop our “Go to Market” strategy, develop sales collateral and solution material to position EY in the market. You will learn about the various competencies and capabilities within EY. You will be a key player in the sales and delivery lifecycle of engagements.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, management information systems, economics, mathematics, finance, or a related field and approximately 8 years of work experience
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience working within the energy trading sector
  • Technical/Functional ETRM and/or other trading system implementation experience
  • Knowledge of energy markets such as oil, refined products, natural gas, LNG, and power
  • Expertise in several functional areas including front, mid or back office
  • Strong understanding of the current solutions in the market and ability to craft a point of view for our clients
  • Ability to liaise across various stakeholder groups, including business, front office, and technical teams
  • Strategic thinking and solutioning skills to craft a strong value proposition
  • Curious mindset and desire to learn and grow
  • Strong project management skills and ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong executive facilitation skills related to strategy development and problem solving
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills on a global basis (including Presentations) as well as listening and interpretation skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%

Ideally you will also have

  • Experience across multiple technology platforms (ION products, SAP Commodity Management, QuorEka, etc.)
  • Experience with solution architecture, data architecture, infrastructure performance and/or cost optimization
  • SQL, Python or similar languages
  • Experience with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with SAP Cloud Platform Integration
  • Experience with JAVA, OpenComponents, OpenJVS, OpenAVS and SAP ABAP development
  • Strong understanding of trading regulations and related risks and controls impacting trading entities

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $169,900 to $388,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $203,900 to $441,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
