The stationary engineer assumes the important role of managing and operating critical mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating systems within a facility. Commonly employed in hospitals, industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, retail stores and educational institutions, they generally serve as the sole maintenance personnel. The stationary engineer is responsible for inspecting and monitoring all stationary operating systems, diagnosing problems and properly responding to emergency situations.
