Are you an artist with an eye for detail? Do you have creativity and technical design skills? If so, an exciting career awaits you as a production designer.
A production designer is a key creative force on a tech team. It is the production designer’s responsibility to design and create all visual aspects of a project, with the ultimate goals of amazing customers. This job requires designing aesthetically-pleasing user interface (UI) components, creating motion graphic visuals, and bringing a tech team’s vision to life.
The production designer must have a degree in graphic design or a related field, such as art or digital media. They need to be incredibly knowledgeable of the latest video editing, animation, web design, and graphic design tools and software. A production designer must have an eye for detail and be an incredible problem solver, so they accomplish tasks on time, within budget, and with a high degree of accuracy.
Having an incredible portfolio is essential, so companies know they are getting an artist with a knack for producing amazing visuals. Production designers must be open to feedback and exhibit the ability to work collaboratively with members of a tech team, often having to adapt their designs and changes quickly.
