The role of a Network Technician is an essential one in the tech industry, demanding an in-depth knowledge of systems architecture and the ability to work with a variety of computer systems, software and hardware.
A Network Technician’s primary responsibility is to maintain, configure, install and troubleshoot an organization’s network infrastructure. It’s especially vital that they keep an eye out for any security threats that may enter the system while maintaining the highest level of access control possible. They must be knowledgeable in the most up-to-date industry standards and techniques.
Ideally, a Network Technician should also have a keen understanding of networks, from the physical to the software-based components. This includes understanding the various functions performed by routers, switches, bridges and gateways. IT skills such as systems diagnostics, maintenance and repair are often necessary too.
Not only should Network Technicians possess an understanding of networks, but they should also have the ability to communicate with users and let issues be known in an effective manner to help expedite problem solving. This includes the ability to provide technical support and help desk services. Furthermore, it is essential that they are familiar with troubleshooting techniques, so that they can diagnose the source of problems and resolve them quickly.
Earning the trust of users is also critical, as it allows quicker resolution of issues that can arise. Network Technicians must be committed to meeting the needs of users and customers alike, often taking on responsibilities beyond the scope of networks to ensure customer satisfaction.
At Expoint, we are looking for knowledgeable professionals with a desire to work in this fast-paced, highly rewarding industry. If you think you have the skills and the attitude to be a great Network Technician, register with us today!
