Your Career

Palo Alto Networks NGFW (Next Generation Firewall) group is looking for a seasoned and accomplished QA/Automation engineer with experience in validating core networking & security features in the QA team. You will be part of a world-class software test engineering team that works on various ground-breaking technologies (Cloud Identity, Data Loss Prevention, Post quantum cryptography, IoT Security etc) in the Layer 4-7 domain. You will work with a multi- functional team of engineers solving interesting problems in the area of L4-7 security.

Your Impact

• Work in a small and fast paced team to solve important customer problems and deliver most impactful results
• Contribute in all phases of end to end product and solution validation
• Work with different development and quality assurances groups to achieve the best quality
• Suggest and implement improvements to the QA process
• Work with DevOps and the Technical Support teams to troubleshoot customer issues
• Interview, mentor and coach new team members

our Experience

• Strong automation/programming experience in Python
• Working knowledge and experience with TCP/IP, application layer protocols (HTTP/HTTPS/SMTP)
• (Cloud Identity, Data Loss Prevention, Post quantum cryptography, decryption, certificate management, IoT Security)
• Hands on experience testing network and/or other security products
• Experience with various Linux platform testing & troubleshooting tools
• Be able to build and maintain complex networking testbeds
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging/troubleshooting skills
• Excellent QA skills employing test frameworks, commercial test sets, home grown tools, automated testing
• Preferred - Experience with GCP, AWS or other cloud infra, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
• Graduate degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline or equivalent military experience required
• 10+ years of experience in QA Automation Engineering

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $147,000/yr to $200,500/yr. Your Impact

• You will be leading the test design and strategy for high-priority, high-impact product features.

  • Design and develop comprehensive test plans and strategies for complex, large-scale features.

  • Tackle the challenges of test strategy for enterprise-grade products and applications.

• Analyze complex issues and defects, guiding root cause analysis during and after releases.

• Take a leadership role in evolving software testing processes and best practices.

• Drive improvements in functionality, usability, testability, performance, and production stability, collaborating with architects and engineering teams.

• Work closely with engineering, product management, UX, documentation, DevOps, and customer engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle—from requirements to release.

• Define and implement processes for building bi-directional feedback loops with customers to improve quality and satisfaction.

Your Experience

• 9+ years of experience in technical QA roles within large-scale enterprises or high-growth startups.

• Strong programming skills in Python; experience with additional languages is a plus.

• Deep understanding of public cloud platforms, including AWS, GCP, and Azure.

• Demonstrated experience in developing complex test frameworks from scratch, with a strong focus on scalability and efficiency

• Proven ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, tools, and automation frameworks (Pytest, Selenium etc)

• Extensive experience in leading QA efforts for distributed systems and SaaS-based products.

• Expertise in designing and implementing robust test strategies for complex, large-scale systems.

• Hands-on experience with backend and frontend testing frameworks; passionate about driving continuous improvement in test infrastructure and coverage.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and proficiency in building and maintaining test tools and automation pipelines.

• Proven ability to work efficiently with cross-functional teams to identify issues, drive resolutions, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

• Excellent collaboration skills; a team player with strong ownership and accountability.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience in Cloud security industry, or equivalent relevant experience, is advantageous

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Automation Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of security automation workflows using the Tines platform. This role requires deep technical expertise in security orchestration, cloud architecture, and API integrations, as well as experience working closely with Security Operations Centers (SOC), Incident Response (IR) teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring a strong security engineering background, hands-on experience with modern automation platforms, and a strategic mindset to drive scalable and secure automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
• Architect, implement, and maintain advanced automation workflows using Tines.
• Collaborate with SOC and IR teams to identify high-impact use cases for automation.
• Integrate Tines with enterprise systems including EDR, SIEM, threat intelligence platforms, and cloud services.
• Lead secure integration of Tines with SSO, credential vaults, and external repositories.
• Design and configure secure connectivity solutions (e.g., Cloudflare tunnels, VPNs) for hybrid environments.
• Develop and maintain orchestration stories across platforms such as:
• CrowdStrike, Tanium, Splunk, Anvilogic, ThreatQ, AWS, and Azure.
• Write, test, and debug Python-based automation logic.
• Analyze Tines logs and metrics to optimize performance and reliability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and architectural diagrams.
• Engage with stakeholders across security, infrastructure, and application teams to gather requirements and align automation efforts with business goals.
• Ensure all automation workflows adhere to enterprise security policies and change management processes.

Minimum Years of Experience 8

Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3+ years in a security automation or engineering role.
• Proven experience working with SOC and/or Incident Response teams to operationalize automation.
• Hands-on experience with Tines or similar SOAR platforms (e.g., Splunk SOAR, Palo Alto XSOAR).
• Strong programming skills in Python; experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and secure API integrations.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including automation and security architecture.
• Familiarity with AI/ML integrations (e.g., AWS Bedrock, OpenAI APIs) is a plus.
• Experience configuring secure tunnels (e.g., Cloudflare, SSH, VPN) for hybrid environments.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks and best practices (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.

Desired Qualifications
• CISSP, GIAC, or equivalent security certification.
• Tines certifications (both entry-level and advanced preferred).
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty or equivalent cloud security certification.
