As a Field Service Technician II at Boston Scientific, you will serve as a trusted technical partner to our customers by installing, maintaining, and servicing Boston Scientific medical systems and devices. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Strong electrical, mechanical, and machine controls knowledge, including machine-based software
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and servicing complex technical or medical equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first mindset
  • Ability to travel approximately 75% of the time to service customers, sometimes on short notice
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and access to a reliable service vehicle that meets company insurance requirements

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior technical field service, biomedical, or military technical MOS experience

About this role:

Are you passionate about advancing obesity therapy and making a meaningful impact on patient lives? As an Endobariatric Awareness Representative (EBAR), you’ll play a vital role in expanding awareness and education around Endobariatric therapy. In this field-based role, you’ll collaborate closely with Endobariatric and referring physicians, clinicians, and office staff to promote understanding of Endobariatric procedures, appropriate patient identification, and best practices for screening. You’ll also partner with our Regional Endobariatric Manager and marketing team to drive success across three core areas: procedure education, resource education, and referring physician outreach.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and partner with REM in growing Boston Scientific’s Endobariatric business in targeted centers to ensure Boston Scientifics sales targets are achieved.
  • Assist physicians and office staff with patient identification, patient screening, and patient education resources.
  • Work to enroll practices, physicians, and patients in the Boston Scientific Patient Access Support Program.
  • Serve as the primary Boston Scientific field coordinator of Direct to Patient Programs that are administered in the assigned geography.
  • Educate on Endobariatric therapies to medical practice personnel that manage obese patients (weight management clinics, cardiology, internal medicine, fertility, OB-GYN, orthopedics, and general & family practice) with the goal of increasing therapy awareness and patient referrals for Endobariatrics.
  • Connect physicians and practices who refer obese patients with Endobariatric Programs by coordinating peer-to-peer events.
  • Develop physician and office champions for patient referrals.
  • Meet with hospital marketing department, media relations and/or physician liaisons of each targeted hospital facility to educate on Endobariatric service line.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2+ years of work experience in a relevant discipline
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships

Preferred qualifications:

  • Program development and/or market development experience
  • Experience working in bariatrics
  • Obesity therapeutics experience
  • Pharmaceutical launch experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Your role:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by adhering to customer entitlements, setting clear expectations, and meeting commitments and arrival times to address and resolve customer needs. Understand the customer's business and competitive environment; generate service revenue.
  • Actively participate as a member of the regional work team; work to improve team processes and identify training gaps. Seek out opportunities to increase capability and capacity (i.e. may be required to become qualified in multiple modalities, learns new tools).
  • Perform all administrative duties within established Philips, State, and Federal regulatory requirements and timeframes including timesheets, service work orders, expense reports, Field Change Orders (FCO), preventative maintenance (PM), installation documents, site and service documentation, and other related paperwork. Adhere to established training, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Utilize tools, support, resources, and escalation processes within required time frames to resolve customer and system problems timely and effectively. Complete PMs, FCOs, installation and all related tasks (diagnose and resolve electronic, network, and mechanical problems).
  • Travel across the specified geography is required. The average driving time is 1-4 hours daily and may exceed 50% at times. Occasional overnight stays and travel by air and/or train may be required.

You're the right fit if:

  • You’ve acquired 2+ years of experience in a diagnostic imaging (field or hospital-based) service environment or 4+ years’ in electromechanical industries.
  • Your skills include the ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment, including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment.
  • You have an Associate Degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.

  • Participating in case reviews and clinical observation by working with physicians, hospital, and ambulatory surgery center staff.
  • Attending cases in the operating room of hospital and surgery center accounts and performing patient follow-up to assure customer and patient success with the implanted products.
  • Meeting with existing and potential clients (e.g., physicians, physician office groups at hospitals) by traveling (in an automobile or airplane) to identify their clinical needs, goals, and constraints related to patient care and to discuss and demonstrate how company products can help them to achieve their goals.
  • Utilizing company resources to identify potential patients and referral sources to educate them on neuromodulation and the value of pain management in treating chronic pain; this includes participating in creating community awareness events to drive patient volume.
  • Developing relationships with hospital and ambulatory surgery center personnel (e.g. through conversation, meetings, participation in conferences) to make new contacts in other departments within hospital and to identify key decision makers in order to facilitate future sales.
  • Responding to customer and patient’s needs regarding products and services by developing creative and feasible solutions or working with other related personnel (e.g., sales, clinical research, marketing, technical support) to develop optimal solutions.
  • This position is a field-based sales position within the assigned territory. You will be in daily collaboration with other local Field Clinical Representatives, Territory Managers and the Regional Business Director in your area.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
