You will be responsible for innovating, deploying, optimizing, and maintaining the automation systems within the data centers. Automation systems consist of building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). Using Amazon leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space.Key job responsibilities
As a controls engineer you will:
• Perform controls root cause analysis for service of controls for AWS data centers.
• Manage scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for construction of AWS data centers.
• Schedule and supervise Quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS.
• Provide vendor management.
• Develop scope of work for site improvement projects.
• Work under tight project timelines.
• Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate difficult situations.
• Review controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
• Financially manage both construction and service contracts.
• Provide technical assistance and support to internal customers during life cycle of the data center.
• Participate in a global on-call schedule.
• Ensure data center controls are deployed in accordance with scope of work (SOW) and specifications.
• Review and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings.
• Act in a project sponsor capacity.
• Grow in technical ability by learning a multitude of different automation platforms.
• Develop building automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Develop controls documentation related to construction and service projects.
• Develop and modify controls logic programming.
• Develop and modify graphical user interface.
• Participate in the vendor selection process.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 75% of your time.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science plus 7+ years of relevant construction experience, OR 11+ years of relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree.
• 7+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large- scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.
• 7+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI and submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
• 4+ years of experience in developing, monitoring, and maintaining critical path master and micro project schedules for complex large-scale mission critical projects.
• Experience working with cross function teams to deliver complex construction projects.
• MS in Construction Management or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural)
• 3+ Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and electrical engineering principals
• 3+ Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and mechanical engineering principals
• Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure
• Certified as a Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
• Prior AWS/Amazon experience
• 5+ Yr. Military Service
