As a Senior Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Bank Deposits Technology team, you will provide expertise and engineering excellence to build strategic solutions that enable and modernize our core deposits platform. You will address business challenges through innovative engineering practices. Proficiency in various technology delivery concepts, including large-scale cloud computing, modern development practices, scalable coding frameworks, microservice and event-based architectures, domain-promoten design, and automation, is essential. You will guide teams in developing cloud-based solutions using modern patterns, implementing them on both our private and public cloud platforms. Job Responsibilities

  • Design modern technology solutions collaborating closely with architects, product owners and software engineers.
  • Identify, design and drives adoption of modern technology frameworks
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in the Design & Development of mission critical applications that can scale operate with up time of 99.999% and processing 4,000+ transactions per second
  • Identify and mitigate technology-related risks by implementing robust security measures and compliance standards
  • Guides the team and the technology they support towards resiliency and stability through quality software development
  • Identify opportunities for process and tool improvements and drive those from concept to implementation
  • Adheres to architecture standards, risk management and security policies
  • Contribute and collaborate in creation and consumption of open, standards-based solutions, while working with existing J.P. Morgan Chase technologies and infrastructure
  • Continuously education on emerging software engineering patterns

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert in one or more programming language(s) including Java
  • Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex technology problems in one or more technical disciplines
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Expert knowledge and direct experience building applications in cloud using Kubernetes, Service mesh, Kafka, API Gateways, SQL/NoSQL DB

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

In this role, you will partner cross-functionally with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and engineers to design and implement our data models. You’ll design, build, and scale data pipelines that transform billions of records into actionable insights for our largest customers. You’ll also work closely with backend engineers to build state-of-the-art tooling for Slack Admins.


You will contribute to initiatives that directly support key decision-makers within our enterprise customer base by scaling data models that provide essential adoption and engagement metrics.

What you will be doing:
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and reusable data models that are easy to understand and used by different subject areas

  • Design, implement and build data models and pipelines that deliver data with measurable quality under the SLA

  • Partner with product teams, data analysts and engineering teams to build foundational data sets that are trusted, well understood, and aligned with business strategy

  • Be a champion of the overall strategy for data across multiple teams and different use cases

  • Increase access to foundational company metrics through process and technical foundations

  • Identify, document and promote data engineering standard methodologies throughout Slack

What you should have:
  • 5+ years of experience working in data architecture, data modeling, master data management, metadata management

  • Recent accomplishments working with relational methods and approaches (logging, columnar, star and snowflake, dimensional modeling)

  • A consistent track record in scaling and optimizing schemas, performance tuning SQL and ETL pipelines in OLAP and Data Warehouse environments

  • Airflow or any workflow management platform for data engineering pipelines orchestration.

  • Proficiency in coding through the use of with Python and SQL

  • Familiar with data governance frameworks, SDLC, and Agile methodology

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to efficiently collaborate with technical and business partners

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience

Bonus Points:
  • Hands-on experience with Spark SQL, AWS (S3, EMR), Apache Pinot, Big Data & Hadoop.

  • Proficient in coding through the use of Scala

  • Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP or Azure.

  • Understanding of NoSQL Data Stores

  • Experience around Batch & Real-time processing
