Qualifications:

  • Hands on assembly and troubleshooting
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment, optics, stages and motion control desired.
  • Must be able to read technical documentation.
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision to complete assignments and report status.
  • Experience building and troubleshooting mechanical systems, optical systems, robotics, motion control, semiconductor capital equipment, biomedical equipment or x-ray or electron-beam systems.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to generate and redline procedures and documentation.
  • Experience working in engineering prototype development environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Engineering background in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Equipment, Systems or other related field or equivalent experience, preferred.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to the system-level design and integration of xenon recovery and vacuum systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, software, and process engineering.

  • Design and implement system control architectures, including software development.

  • Design and implement gas handling and vacuum subsystems, including flow control, pressure regulation, and leak detection.

  • Work hands-on with hardware during prototyping, testing, and system bring-up phases.

  • Interface with vendors for component selection, procurement, and performance validation.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols.

  • Support the transition from prototype to product, including documentation, testing, and manufacturing readiness.

  • Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including requirements, interface control documents, and test plans.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools.

  • Travel to customer sites for initial installation and escalations. About 10% international travel

Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in system-level engineering, preferably in gas handling, vacuum systems, or semiconductor equipment.

  • Experience with control systems (SCADA). E.g. LabView, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Python based control systems, or other control systems (EPICS, Ignition, Tango, etc.).

  • Strong hands-on skills in system assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Proven ability to manage vendors and external partners.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards in industrial or laboratory environments.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of complex challenges.

Additional Preferred Skills
  • Experience in productization of R&D systems into commercial tools.

  • Knowledge of gas recovery technologies, rare gas handling, or cryogenic systems.

  • Familiarity with vacuum system design and integration.

  • Background in semiconductor capital equipment or related high-tech industries.

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to define, simulate, and validate system architectures. Familiarity with MBSE tools and methodologies (e.g., SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw).

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years

  • Proficient level in Matlab or equivalent
  • Proficient in ZeMax
  • Working knowledge of optical fundamentals (ray tracing, stray light, aberrations, diffraction)
  • Able to run a tolerance analysis
  • Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
  • Able to work effectively in a team and deliver finished work products to a schedule
  • Able to perform an experimental error budget analysis

preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of optical testing (interferometer and Shack Hartman)
  • Basic knowledge of optical coatings

Vacuum Systems:Test and troubleshoot vacuum systems and pumps.

Control Systems:Assemble, test, and troubleshoot PLC and other control systems, including both electrical and software components. This includes cables, connectors, DIN-Rail electrical or electronic assemblies.

Demonstrate reliability and consistency in performing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.

Cleanroom work:Work in a cleanroom environment, prevent contamination of parts by using proper technique.

Qualifications:

You hold a Technical Certificate, AS degree, military technical training experience, or equivalent vocational training in a technical discipline or a minimum of 10 years of related experience.

Technical Skills:Proficiency in handling inert gas systems, vacuum systems, and control systems (PLC, electrical, and software).

Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Software Proficiency:Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.

Shift work: You are able to occasionally perform shift work/and or work on weekends

Mechanical Skills:Lift 40 pounds, demonstrate basic knowledge of the use of hand tools, follow directions and instructions.
