A Program Manager in Germany—the country of innovation—is an essential role within a tech-based organization. From e-commerce to software development, the Program Manager is a key team member in the successful execution of highly complex projects.
A Program Manager’s primary role is to anticipate and plan for a project’s potential risks and ensure it runs smoothly, efficiently and within its allotted timeframe. Program Managers combine knowledge of software development with project management expertise to develop project plans and accurately report progress against success criteria.
Typical duties include: working with cross-functional teams across the globe to define project goals and deliverables, identify and manage project resources, and regularly review and update project plans with stakeholders. They also use their organizational skills to identify and manage dependencies, review progress and raise any potential issues with stakeholders.
Program Managers also responsible for capturing requirements and managing the project budget, they lead quality assurance teams, develop testing and verification plans, and track application development, ensuring defect-free deliverables and ensuring the project stays within scope and budget.
The ideal Program Manager would have excellent communication skills, to bridge the gap between business and technical teams, as well as demonstrate a sound knowledge of software development life cycles, software engineering processes/methodologies, machine learning, automation, and a good understanding of enterprise applications. German fluency is essential for this role, as this role requires not only the ability to communicate with tech professionals but also the ability to communicate with non-technical customers.
