The SAP MDM & Data Governance Lead will spearhead the master data management and data governance initiatives within the EY SAP Enterprise Data Management Initiative run by SAP Platforms & Assets. This role is responsible not only for designing and implementing robust SAP MDM solutions but also for leading data compliance, security, and information security (InfoSec) efforts to ensure enterprise-wide adherence to regulatory requirements, privacy policies, and organizational data protection standards.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Lead the design, implementation, and governance of SAP Master Data Management (MDM) solutions aligned with enterprise standards and BDC program objectives.
  • Define and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring consistent data definitions, quality standards, and ownership across SAP master data domains.
  • Own the data compliance strategy within the SAP BDC initiative, ensuring adherence to GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec and data privacy teams to implement security controls that protect master data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and evangelist for data governance best practices within the SAP BDC team and wider organization.
  • Lead training and awareness programs to educate teams on data compliance, security policies, and governance principles.
  • Facilitate collaboration between IT, business units, and external vendors to maintain data governance maturity and respond to audit findings.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data compliance regulations, InfoSec standards, and MDM innovations, incorporating these into the program roadmap.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Deep expertise in SAP Master Data Management solutions and architecture, including SAP MDG and related modules.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and methodologies.
  • Solid knowledge of global data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and compliance requirements impacting master data.
  • Experience with data security controls, role-based access, encryption, and InfoSec risk management.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), and data platform tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Nvidia AI.

Description:

The SAP MDM & Data Governance Lead will spearhead the master data management and data governance initiatives within the EY SAP Enterprise Data Management Initiative run by SAP Platforms & Assets. This role is responsible not only for designing and implementing robust SAP MDM solutions but also for leading data compliance, security, and information security (InfoSec) efforts to ensure enterprise-wide adherence to regulatory requirements, privacy policies, and organizational data protection standards.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Lead the design, implementation, and governance of SAP Master Data Management (MDM) solutions aligned with enterprise standards and BDC program objectives.
  • Define and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring consistent data definitions, quality standards, and ownership across SAP master data domains.
  • Own the data compliance strategy within the SAP BDC initiative, ensuring adherence to GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec and data privacy teams to implement security controls that protect master data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
  • Develop and monitor data access policies, user roles, and authorization workflows to mitigate risks and ensure secure handling of master data.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits related to data security and compliance, proactively identifying gaps and recommending remediation plans.
  • Partner with data architects and engineers to embed compliance and security requirements into data migration pipelines and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Drive master data quality management initiatives through data profiling, cleansing, validation, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and evangelist for data governance best practices within the SAP BDC team and wider organization.
  • Lead training and awareness programs to educate teams on data compliance, security policies, and governance principles.
  • Facilitate collaboration between IT, business units, and external vendors to maintain data governance maturity and respond to audit findings.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data compliance regulations, InfoSec standards, and MDM innovations, incorporating these into the program roadmap.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Deep expertise in SAP Master Data Management solutions and architecture, including SAP MDG and related modules.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks, standards, and methodologies.
  • Solid knowledge of global data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and compliance requirements impacting master data.
  • Experience with data security controls, role-based access, encryption, and InfoSec risk management.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), and data platform tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Nvidia AI.
  • Proficient in data quality tools, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.
  • Ability to translate regulatory and security requirements into practical data governance policies and technical controls.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across business and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience conducting data compliance risk assessments, audits, and remediation planning.
  • Leadership skills with experience mentoring or managing cross-functional teams.

Other Requirements

  • Proven experience working within hybrid cloud/on-premise SAP landscapes.
  • Certifications related to data governance, security, or compliance (e.g., CDMP, CISA, CIPP, CISSP) are highly desirable.
  • Experience in SAP BDC or large-scale data migration programs is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
