Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Engineering leadership experience, including experience leading technical teams through innovation.
- Experience creating and implementing a technical roadmap in the development of new technologies or products.
- Software engineering experience in one or more of the following domain areas: NLP, Machine Learning, information retrieval, virtual assistants or mobile software development
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building consumer features with a large user base.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams to achieve large goals in new products.
- In-depth experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams.
- Ability to drive product excellence across many different product lines, working cross-functionally across a matrixed environment.
- Technical leader with deep technical credibility, and the ability to quickly acquire new technical domain expertise.
About the job
The Assistant Services organization focuses on making Assistant more capable through deep integration with first/third-party apps and services to solve increasingly more complex problems, and through developer platform and automation to grow the ecosystem at scale – with close partnership with Search, YouTube, and Geo Product Areas. As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee Machine Learning automation services, which provide Assistant integrations with service providers. Specifically, your role will be to lead the teams integrating Assistant with service providers that have not used our normal integration APIs.

- Be responsible for the development of talent within the organization, ensuring that a robust pipeline of skilled leaders is available to meet the expected growth of the organization and the business.
- Navigate the challenges inherent in delivering ML based product solutions.
- Develop award-winning and market-leading products and features from scratch and within existing products for the Google Assistant.
- Grow and develop a high-performing team and work effectively in the regional community.
