You'll also collaborate with business leaders on strategic initiatives that continuously improve and innovate our approach to attracting top talent.


What the Candidate Will Do

  • Own the full-cycle recruiting process for high-volume and strategic customer operations’ roles in Japan
  • Design and implement sourcing strategies to build robust and diverse talent pipelines.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers , ensuring a consistent and effective interview process that leads to successful hires.
  • Contribute to the broader Uber TA community by supporting continuous improvement initiatives and sharing best practices.
  • Apply a data-driven approach to recruiting: Analyze talent market trends (including talent mapping ) and leverage internal data to provide strategic insights, anticipate challenges, and help secure top talent.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, specifically with non-technical roles in a high-growth, fast-paced setting
  • Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English
  • Proven track record of success in recruiting for high-volume Commercial and Business Development roles.
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English (written and spoken).
  • A strong knack for using data and insights to optimize hiring strategies and improve overall processes
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with a variety of clients, including senior leadership and top tier candidates
  • Experience contributing to diversity and inclusion initiatives through recruiting efforts
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Communications, or a related discipline

About the Role

This is a 12 month fixed term contract based in Sydney, Australia. Your job will mirror the role and responsibilities of other Full Time Associates in the APAC Finance team and will include a high degree of ownership and responsibility.

In this position, you will be driving strategic analysis and insights to influence finance and business leaders around product portfolio, competitive dynamics, marketplace investments, engagement and growth levers for both demand and supply. In addition, you will help the team in setting and delivering targets, through forecasting, reporting and analysis efforts, but also building the right financial discipline across multiple initiatives. Besides FP&A, you will also have the opportunity to participate in key regional strategic projects and establish ROI processes for capital allocation across the region.

Note: You might also be considered for a 9 month contract to support one of the markets in North Asia, while working from the Sydney office.

The Impact You'll Have

  • Financial planning and analysis : work closely with the broader finance organization and with regional business leaders to develop financial forecasts and operational goals, apply business judgement and financial insights to help with strategy and decision making
  • Financial modeling : build models from scratch, improve existing models, and capture complex business reality/dynamics and interactions into comprehensive models and leverage those to assess trade-offs, propose solutions and drive better decision making
  • Think strategically and execute : the models we build aid in decision making and strategy - we operationalize our insights and support daily execution
  • Monthly close: report and analyze variances between actuals, forecast, and plan - use insights to iterate on forecasts and create/discuss potential action plans with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Process improvement : help improve our planning processes and ensure finance best practices spread through the organization. Work with Accounting, Tax, FinOps and other finance verticals to provide input on management reporting needs and better understand our actuals
  • Innovate : we will push the boundaries beyond traditional forecasting. Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets
  • Special projects : new initiatives always come up, you might have the chance to contribute on product launches, M&A and JV deals, business partnerships, cross-border strategy, etc.

The Experience You'll Bring

  • BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics are highly preferred
  • 3+ years of proven experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital or Management Consulting with experience of Financial modeling
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Elite Excel/Google Sheet skills: Best practices are second-nature, your models are efficient, scalable and intuitive
  • Excellent communication and people skills: numbers are key, but a business is built with people
  • Self-starter: You will take initiative, be passionate and dedicated, and drive toward goals
  • Attention to detail and ability to execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Standout colleague - this is a highly collaborative and encouraging team environment

  • AI, Gen AI
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Systems: working knowledge of enterprise-level financial planning systems
