• Ability to follow technician/engineer instructions to operate charging equipment, basic hand tools, test equipment, and data acquisition systems used for data collection
• Able to identify and assess potential electrical hazards or risks to ensure a safe working environment
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public
• Able and willing to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment (90% indoor)

• Design and implement automation for managing the deployment and upgrades of large-scale manufacturing software applications

• Design infrastructure, systems and application architecture

• Inspection/verification of in-process Tesla built material
• Manage nonconforming material through the MRB process to ensure that nonconforming material is identified, appropriately dispositioned, tracked, and reported

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Quality Control environment
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 or TS16924 a plus
• Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings
• Versed on Microsoft office
• Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Chemical Engineering

• In this role, interns work directly with engineers and engineering technician on one of areas including mass and energy balance model development, new equipment at mini pilot/pilot scale design-built-commission, and engineering test planning and execution. Seeking candidates with experience with mass and energy balance using Excel and process modeling software like Aspen, SysCAD, HSC.

Crystallization Chemical Engineering

• This internship offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the early stages of a groundbreaking project. You will be supporting the crystallization team, working with engineering and operation departments to prepare for plant commissioning and start-up. Cell Recycling Project Engineering

Lithium Hydrometallurgy Engineering

• Tesla’s Lithium Hydrometallurgy Team is looking for engineering intern for a novel lithium hydroxide facility. You’ll be working alongside a muti-disciplinary team on the design of a first-of-a-kind plant to ensure readiness for both construction and operations. Seeking a candidate who has had exposure to hydrometallurgical, crystallization/solids separation processes and predictive solution chemistry.

Lab Materials Engineering

Production Engineering

• As a Production Engineer Intern at Tesla's Lithium Refinery, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the production process of lithium compounds used in the manufacturing of Tesla's electric vehicle batteries. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, where you will work alongside a team of experts to optimize and enhance production processes while adhering to Tesla's commitment to sustainability and quality. Cathode Advanced Manufacturing

• Intern will participate in the development, measurement, and production of new cathode active materials and engineering / troubleshooting of the processes / measurements by which these powders are produced. This requires working in a hands-on capactiy with equipment and cathode materials.

Cathode Pilot Manufacturing Engeineering

• As a pilot line manufacturing intern, you will develop systems for operations, training, dashboard visualization of KPIs, inventory management and automation of manufacturing steps at pilot scale, and eventually be the first on-the-ground, technical point of contact for the understanding of how to scale and sustain cathode production quality at our first manufacturing plant in Austin. In this role you will also work closely with Tesla's teams around cathode manufacturing, material characterization, cell testing etc. to coordinate cross-functional activities that improve process control and product quality.

• Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
• Knowledge of chemistry, thermodynamics, engineering fundamentals, Li-ion batteries, cathode materials, or powder processing
• Proficiency in using engineering software and tools (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD, Plant 3D)
• Expereince in ASPEN, Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, TwinCat programming
• Experience in a R&D, powder production equipment, or materials development work

• Work as key link between cross functional teams to develop requirements and provide solutions for inline vision inspection systems
• Drive ramp of exciting new products by characterizing baseline vision performance and capability and improve performance as measured by product quality and tool availability
• Ensure manufacturing lines meet uptime, availability, and reliability metrics – OEE, cycle time and quality, and have the sense of urgency on resolution of production issues
• Develop best practices to improve vision system reliability
• Vision software and algorithm development and data analysis using programming languages such as C++, C#, Python or HALCON vision library
• Commissioning and calibrating vision systems and MES system integration
• Organize cross-functional design reviews and highlight body of work

• 5+ years of experience with machine vision systems
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards manufacturing process development
• Knowledge in selection of cameras, lenses, optics, lighting, and other hardware for image capture and processing
• Knowledge of camera calibration (e.g., pinhole camera model, lens distortion, MTF of imaging system, gain and exposure setting, etc.)
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical background and ability to understand and explain theory behind vision algorithms
• Experience of image processing (e.g., image enhancement, thresholding, morphology, feature extraction, etc.) is highly desired
• Experience with machine learning applications and image classification by deep learning is highly desired
• Experience in high volume manufacturing is highly desired
• Ability to travel

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of mechanical/manufacturing engineering experience in an industrial setting
• Experience conducting new equipment installations and product startups
• Experience with high power rolling applications in paper, rubber, or steel industries desired
• Experience developing automated manufacturing equipment and high precision tooling in 3D (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience with optimizing mechanical components to control elastic deformations on micron scale
• Experience working with high speed/accuracy hydraulic positioners desired
