Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
A good understanding of object-oriented programming and experience in at least one object-oriented programming language, e.g. Java, C++.
At least 5 years of object oriented programming experience
Experience using Git / GitHub
Validated understanding of web technologies, such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, XML, JavaScript, JSON, and/or Ajax
Shown understanding of Database technologies such as SQL, PL/SQL and relational database schema design
Experience in automated testing including unit and functional testing using Java, JUnit, JSUnit, Selenium
Previous experience with SaaS development

Responsibilities
  • Design, provision, and maintain the infrastructure throughout its lifecycle
  • Monitor the availability and performance of cloud services, systems, and applications.
  • Work with engineers on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of meaningful infrastructure services (i.e logging, monitoring and alerting)
  • Analyze system and application metrics to identify potential performance issues or bottlenecks.
  • Design, implement, and maintain monitoring tools and systems to track and report on availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, and infrastructure teams, to identify and resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance into long-range platform requirements and operational guidelines, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement of Platform Service Operability and availability
  • Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards and reports to provide visibility into the availability and performance of architectural services.

Requirements
  • Solid understanding of configuration, deployment, management, and maintenance of large cloud-hosted systems; including auto-scaling, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing sophisticated monitoring and alerting solutions for maintaining 99.99% and higher service availability
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available
  • Expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is a must.
  • Proven work experience as a monitoring specialist, or a similar role
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve performance and service availability issues
  • In-depth, hands-on experience with Linux, networking, server, and cloud architectures
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, infrastructure components, and virtualization technologies (Kubernetes preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing scalable and highly performant AI-powered solutions in content classification and taxonomy domains.
  • Expertise in designing and managing complex, large-scale data pipelines, including data modeling and schema design, for efficient data processing and transformation.
  • Experience in microservices architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful API's.
  • Experience building high-scale microservices on AWS (preferred), GCP, or other public cloud substrates.
  • Experience developing front-end and back-end software, preferably including JavaScript or TypeScript, with frameworks such as React and runtimes, including Node.js.
  • Understanding of test-driven development, and associated frameworks (Jest, Cucumber, other related testing frameworks a plus).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive long-term design strategies across multiple complex projects, ensuring cross-platform compatibility.

About the Role
This is a full-time staff engineering position based in the U.S.

What you will be doing


What you should have
Must have lawful permanent residency in the U.S.
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and microservices.
Deep understanding of service mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, or other Envoy-based service meshes.
Hands-on experience with cloud providers such as GCP or AWS, with expertise in container orchestration using Kubernetes.
Enjoys troubleshooting in distributed Linux systems environments and is comfortable tracing issues across applications, systems, and networks
Proven track record of building tools, automation, or services using one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Ruby, Python, C/C++).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to explain complex technical concepts to designers, support staff, and fellow engineers.

Qualifications
Experience with configuring and operating service mesh on larger-scale production operations, focusing on stability, scalability, and performance limits of web services
Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, and network-related protocols
Experience with Linux / Unix operating on high volume systems at scale
Experience running deploymentautomation/configurationmanagement systems at scale - e.g., Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation or others
Certifications in Istio, Kubernetes, Google Cloud, and/or other technologies
Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, distributed systems and software development
